By default, CSD 3.4.1 does not log events on the VPN user's endpoint. Use these instructions to change this setting and choose the severity, called the level, of the CSD events to be logged.
The logging level applies to all VPN users except for those made exempt by the "Do not run Cisco Secure Desktop" setting in the Connection Policies > Network (Client) Access or Clientless SSL VPN Access > Connection Profiles > Add or Edit > Advanced > (Client) SSL VPN panel.
CSD installs the hostscan.log file in the user's home folder. The hostscan.log file shows only the entries from the last session. Each time the user connects to the security appliance, CSD clears the entries from this file and records the new data to it. Previous versions of CSD also recorded entries to a file named csd.log, also in the user's home folder. Releases beginning with CSD 3.4.1 record only to the hostscan.log file. If the Logging Level is set to the default setting, Off, CSD deletes both the hostscan.log and csd.log files if they are present, when users connect.
To view or change the logging level, choose Secure Desktop Manager > Global Settings. The Global Settings panel opens (Figure 9-1).

Click Apply All to save the changes to the running configuration.
