This chapter provides information about how to get started to use IP Solution Center (ISC). The information is in the following categories:

Introduction

ISC is a follow-on to Cisco VPN Solutions Center (VPNSC), 2.2.

The new name was chosen to include all the VPNSC features and the new features in this release. (Refer to the Release Notes for Cisco IP Solution Center, 3.0 (Part Number: OL-4340) http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/isc/3_0/relnotes for overview information about the new features in ISC 3.0. This document is also available on the Documentation CD-ROM.

The ISC 3.0 licensing scheme supports the following. Note that at a minimum you must enter one Application License, an ACTIVATION License, and a VPN License.

Application Licenses, as follows:

Firewall

IPsec

L2VPN Management

MPLS VPN Management

NAT

QoS

API-L2VPN

API-MPLS

API-Sec

ACTIVATION License (activates and sets the maximum global count of the services)

VPN License (activates and sets the maximum number of VPNs)


Note Firewall, IPsec, and NAT are documented together as Security Management.


This release of the product is run from a supported web-based browser, not Solaris 8, as for VPNSC 2.2. However, the products is installed on Solaris 8, as explained in the Cisco IP Solution Center Installation Guide, 3.0 (Part Number: OL-4341) http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/isc/3_0/install. This document is also available on the Documentation CD-ROM.

The Graphical User Interface (GUI) is totally new. It is separated into the following large sections:

Monitoring

Administration

"Structural Overview" gives an overview of each of these sections and the subsections.

System Recommendations

The system recommendations and requirements are listed in Chapter 1, "System Recommendations" of the Cisco IP Solution Center Installation Guide, 3.0 (Part Number: OL-3427). The recommendation is to thoroughly review this list before even planning your installation, to be sure that you have all the hardware and software you need to successfully install.


Caution Repositories used with VPNSC releases, must be manually migrated to use them with ISC.
