Deinstalling Cisco EMF

This chapter details a complete deinstallation of Cisco EMF. All Cisco EMF processes are automatically stopped and deinstalled when the deinstallation script is run. The process used to deinstall Cisco EMF during an upgrade is different, and is detailed in "Upgrading Cisco EMF".

If ObjectStore was installed as part of the Cisco EMF installation, it is removed during deinstallation. If ObjectStore was installed as a separate package before the Cisco EMF installation, the ObjectStore installation remains after deinstallation of Cisco EMF.

Note Ensure that you have backed up all databases as the cemf remove command removes dynamically created files (for example, log files and databases). Refer to Chapter 11, "Cisco EMF Database Backup and Restore Procedures".

The deinstallation option is provided with the installed Cisco EMF software.

Step 1 As superuser (su), log on to the machine where Cisco EMF is installed.

Step 2 Ensure that any installed Element Managers have been deinstalled. To deinstall any Element Managers, refer to Deinstalling an Element Manager.

Step 3 At the command line prompt, change directory to the Cisco EMF bin directory, type:

cd /opt/<CEMF_ROOT>/bin

Step 4 At the command line prompt, type:

./cemf remove

then choose the option you require from the menu.

Caution The order in which components are removed is important. You must deinstall the patches first, in reverse order starting with the latest patch. For example, if patches 3, 4 and 5 are installed, you must deinstall patch 5, then patch 4, then patch 3, then Cisco EMF itself.

Step 5 You are notified that the deinstallation is about to take place.

If you proceed with the deinstallation, the screen scrolls through the software being deleted and the following message is displayed:

Removal of <package> was successful.
