Obtaining CiscoWorks NCM Driver Details
To obtain information about the drivers that are supported by CiscoWorks NCM:
Step 1
Login to the CiscoWorks NCM server using the Admin account.
Step 2
Choose Admin > Drivers.
The Drivers page appears. The Drivers page displays the list of drivers installed on your system and the number of drivers that are currently in use.
Step 3
Click the Internal Name of a driver to view the driver features and the appropriate access methods required to support those features.
For CiscoWorks NCM 1.5 users, driver documentation can be found at the following location on your server:
•
For Windows: <NCM install folder>\docs\en\DSD\index.html
•
For Linux and Solaris: <NCM install folder>/docs/en/DSD/index.html
AAA Configuration
CiscoWorks NCM installs an agent on your AAA server to detect the AAA changes. The agent parses the logs of the AAA application and forwards appropriate logs to CiscoWorks NCM over the port 1099. CiscoWorks NCM uses the AAA logs to track the changes made by the user.
The agent makes only outbound connections and causes minimal load on your AAA server. It denies incoming connections, thereby preventing any security holes on the server.
CiscoWorks NCM supports Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) directly. Contact customer support if you need help for configuring AAA or if you use another AAA server.
Note
If your network already uses Radius or TACACS+, you must create a separate user name and password for CiscoWorks NCM. You must enter the Radius or TACACS+ user name in the AAA User Name field on the Edit User page.
Protocols and Ports
CiscoWorks NCM communicates with the network devices using a combination of the protocols listed in Table 1. If a firewall is present between the NCM server and the network devices, you must provide NCM access to the devices by opening the ports used by those protocols.
Inline Comment Characters
The inline comment characters are displayed at the top of the Edit Configuration page.
Use the following table (Table 2) as a reference, if you use the CLI or write script.
Note
If you do not use a double comment character for the comments that you provide in the configuration, either the device or CiscoWorks NCM could overwrite your comments.
Viewing the Software Version
The About Network Compliance Manager page provides information about the software version. This page also displays the list of device drivers that are installed on your system.
