Getting Started with CiscoWorks LMS Portal
CiscoWorks LMS Portal is the first page that appears when you launch the LMS application. It serves as an interface, launch point and top-level navigation for the frequently used functions in the application.
You can view the important statistics and details of the LMS applications installed on your CiscoWorks server, in a single page instead of navigating through several pages to view the required data.
The views and portlets are the basic units in CiscoWorks LMS Portal.
View is a method to display information in CiscoWorks LMS Portal. The views are displayed as tabs. The content in a view is organized using portlets. Portlets are the user interface components that are displayed in the view. They can be plugged into, displayed in, and managed using CiscoWorks LMS Portal.

Benefits of CiscoWorks LMS Portal
The benefits of LMS Portal are:
•
Easy access to information —You can view the important features of all the installed applications on CiscoWorks server. To do this you can click the corresponding views in CiscoWorks LMS Portal, instead of launching each applications separately.
For example, with the LMS Portal, you can access the Change Audit report (RME) using only two clicks, whereas in the earlier versions of LMS 2.6, it required seven clicks to launch the details.
•
Easy customization—You can modify and personalize your application, using options and icons such as Layout, Look and Feel, and Configuration in CiscoWorks LMS Portal.
•
Lightweight GUI—Eliminates the need to install any plug-ins to launch the application.
•
Multi-server support—Lists all the portlets based on the applications installed on remote servers.
What's New in This Release
The following are the new portlets in CiscoWorks LMS Portal 1.1
•
Device Allocation Summary portlet
In the Device Allocation Summary portlet, you can view the summary of all the devices managed by each application. It also displays the devices not managed by any of the application.
If the server is in Master/Slave setup, the Device Allocation Summary displays the device management information about all its Masters and Slaves.
•
RME CDA Error Summary portlet
The RME Check Device Attribute Error Summary (CDAE) portlet displays information about the different type of errors in RME devices with credentials such as SNMP, Telnet, SSH and so on. It displays the device count along with the type of error.
•
RME Config Protocol Summary portlet
The RME Config Protocol Summary portlet displays information about the configuration protocol usage details for successful configuration fetches. This portlet also enables you to change the Config Protocol Order.
•
IPM Availability Dashboard portlet
The IPM Availability Dashboard portlet will display the following details:
–
Availability percentage for the operation type groups
–
Availability percentage ranges
–
User-defined collectors group based on configured Time Interval
Based on configuration, this portlet displays the selected operation types groups and selected user defined collectors groups.
•

Launching CiscoWorks LMS Portal
LMS 3.1 uses port 1741 for the HTTP server and port 443 for HTTPS server (SSL).
To access the server from a client system, enter any one of these URLs in your web browser:
•
If SSL is disabled, and if you have installed LMS applications on the default port, enter:
http://server_name:1741
•
If SSL is enabled, and if you have installed LMS applications on the default port, enter:
https://server_name:443
where server_name is the hostname of the server on which you have installed LMS applications.
•
If IIS is detected on your system, the port number 443 cannot be used as it will result in port conflict. Instead, you can use a port number ranging from 1024 to 65535.
The CiscoWorks LMS Portal is displayed.
