Adding Views to CiscoWorks LMS Portal


You can add Views to CiscoWorks LMS Portal and organize portlets in a View. You can add, modify, delete, and rename a View. However, you cannot delete the Functional View.

Adding a View

You can add a new View to CiscoWorks LMS Portal application.

Adding a new View helps you to consolidate information specific to a particular function, such as troubleshooting. It also enables you to group data from different LMS applications on a single page.

To add a view:


Step 1 Go to the CiscoWorks LMS Portal and click the Manage View icon at the top right corner of the page.

The View Settings portlet appears.

Step 2 Enter the View name in the Name field.

Step 3 Click Add View.

The View name is added to the tree structure on the left.

To view the recently added View in CiscoWorks LMS Portal, click the Back arrow icon.


Deleting a View

You can delete any view except the Functional View. There are two ways in which you can delete a View.

To delete a view:


Step 1 Go to CiscoWorks LMS Portal and click the Manage View icon at the top right corner of the page.

The View Setting portlet appears.

Step 2 Select the View you want to delete from the tree structure on the left.

The selected View name appears in the Name field.

Step 3 Click Delete to delete the view.

A message appears prompting you to confirm your decision.

Step 4 Click OK to confirm.


You can also delete a View using the following procedure.


Step 1 Go to CiscoWorks LMS Portal and click the Manage View icon at the top right corner of the page.

The View Settings portlet appears.

Step 2 Click the root node icon on the tree structure on the left.

Step 3 Select the view to be deleted from the Set the display order of views and click the Remove icon.

Step 4 Click Update to apply the changes.

The view will be permanently deleted only after clicking the Update button.


Renaming a View

You can rename a view in the CiscoWorks LMS Portal application.

To rename a view:


Step 1 Go to CiscoWorks LMS Portal and click the Manage View icon at the top right corner of the page.

The View Settings portlet appears.

Step 2 Select the View name to be renamed from the tree structure on the left.

The Name field displays the View name.

Step 3 Delete the View name from the Name field.

Step 4 Enter the new name for the View in the Name field.

Step 5 Click Save to save the changes.

Step 6 Click the Back arrow icon to view the renamed View in CiscoWorks LMS Portal.


Making Your Portal Private or Public

You can set either Private or Public Portal as your default portal. Any changes made by the Administrator can be viewed only in Public Portal.


Note When you launch CiscoWorks LMS Portal for the first time, Private Portal appears as the default Portal.


You can also set Public Portal as the default Portal when you log everytime into CiscoWorks LMS Portal.

To set Public Portal as the default, go to Manage View >View Settings and select Public from Set Default portal as, and click Save.

The next time you log in, the default Portal will be Public.

Select Portal as Private

You can customize configure views or portlets only in a Private Portal.

To select Private Portal, go to CiscoWorks LMS Portal and select the Private button at the top right corner of the page.

Select Portal as Public

A Network Administrator, Super Administrator and a System Administrator can create or add any new portlet in a Public View for the users.

You can view the recent changes made by the Administrator in a Public Portal.

To view Public Portal, go to CiscoWorks LMS Portal and select the Public at the top right corner of the page.

Copying Portlets to a New View

You can copy an existing view. This allows you to create a new view with the attributes of the original view. However, you must name each view with a unique name. You can modify the attributes of the new view, as required.

To copy a view:


Step 1 Go to CiscoWorks LMS Portal and click the Manage View icon at the top right corner of the page.

The View Settings portlet appears.

Step 2 Select the View you want to copy to from the tree structure on the left.

The selected View name appears in the Name field.

Step 3 Select the View you want to copy from the Copy From drop-down list.

When you copy an existing view to any new view, it will overwrite the contents of the previous view.

Step 4 Click Save to save the changes or Delete to remove the selected view.

Step 5 Click the Back arrow icon to view the copied view in CiscoWorks LMS Portal.


Setting the Display Order of the Views

You can set the display order of views in the CiscoWorks LMS Portal.

If an Admin user adds portlets to the Public Portal, the Public Portal will be the default view for any subsequent logins.

To set the display order of views:


Step 1 Go to CiscoWorks LMS Portal and click the Manage View icon at the top right corner of the page.

The View Settings portlet appears.

Step 2 Select the view from the list box, and click the Up Arrow or Down Arrow button to rearrange the Views.

Step 3 Click Update to apply the changes.


Restore Default Settings of a View

You can use this feature in CiscoWorks LMS Portal, if you want to revert a customized view to its original settings.

For instance, if after changing the color of the System View or after deleting portlets from the System View, you want to revert the System View to its original settings, with the default portlets and the original color.


Note You can restore only the default Views (System, Network and all application Views) in CiscoWorks LMS Portal application.


To restore a default view:


Step 1 Go to CiscoWorks LMS Portal and click the Manage View icon at the top right corner of the page.

The View Settings portlet appears.

Step 2 Select the View name (for example, System) from the tree structure on the left.

The Name field displays the View name.

Step 3 Click the Restore button to return to the default view.

A message appears prompting you to confirm your decision.

Step 4 Click OK to confirm your decision.

Step 5 Click the Back arrow icon to view the default view (for example, System) in CiscoWorks LMS Portal.
