Description
LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update is a bundle update that contains patches to more than one component of the LMS 2.5 bundle.
It is provided as a single installable and contains updates for the following applications:
•
CiscoWorks Common Services 3.0 (includes CiscoView 6.1)
•
Resource Manager Essentials 4.0
•
Campus Manager 4.0
•
Device Fault Manager 2.0
There is no change in Internetwork Performance Monitor 2.6.
New Features in LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update
CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update provides new support for the following:
•
Windows Server 2003 Standard and Enterprise Editions with Service Pack 1 (client and server)
•
Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (client)
•
Netscape Navigator 7.2 (Windows)
•
Mozilla 1.7 and 1.7.5 (Solaris and Windows)
•
Java Plug-in 1.4.2_08
CiscoWorks Common Services 3.0.3 (Common Services 3.0 Service Pack 3)
CS 3.0.1 (CS 3.0 SP1) and CS 3.0.2 (CS 3.0 SP2) are the incremental releases over CS 3.0. These releases have been rolled into CS 3.0.3 (CS SP3).
The following new features and enhancements in CS 3.0.1 and CS 3.0.2 are rolled into CS 3.0.3:
•
AcsRegCli.pl command line script allows you to register individual applications with ACS without affecting the registration status of other applications.
•
Audit log provides information on:

CiscoWorks Local user addition

CiscoWorks Local user modification

CiscoWorks Local user deletion

Conflict resolution option in dcrcli overwrites Device and Credential Repository (DCR) data from import source.

CiscoView 6.1.2 supports Mini-RMON management:
•
Monitor all 4 mini-RMON groups in RMON-compliant devices.
•
Provide templates for MIB variables that are monitored frequently. These templates contain pre-set thresholds that you can change. You can also create templates for other MIB variables.
•
Generate alarms when the threshold exceeds.
•
Display the events and/or forward them to a management console
•
Co-relate the logged events to the threshold template

Resource Manager Essentials 4.0.3 (RME 4.0 Service Pack 3)
RME 4.0.1 (RME 4.0 SP1) and RME 4.0.2 (RME 4.0 SP2) are the incremental releases over RME 4.0. These releases have been rolled into RME 4.0.3 (RME 4.0 SP 3).
The following new features in RME 4.0.1 and RME 4.0.2 are rolled into RME 4.0.3:
•
NetShow—Enables you to define command sets with show commands and run these commands on devices.
•
Contract Connection—Enables you to verify the service contracts for your Cisco IOS devices. You can also view the contract details of those devices.
•
SmartCase—SmartCase provides the Cisco.com link to raise TAC cases.
•
RME 4.0 SP1 supports Secure Shell Version 2 (SSHv2).

Campus Manager 4.0.3 (CM 4.0 Service Pack 3)
CM 4.0.1 (CM 4.0 SP1) and CM 4.0.2 (CM 4.0 SP2) are the incremental releases over CM 4.0. These releases have been rolled into CM 4.0.3 (CM 4.0 SP 3).
There are no new features supported in CM 4.0.3. However, the new device support in CM 4.0.1 and CM 4.0.2 releases are rolled into CM 4.0.3.

Pre-requisites for CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update
Install CiscoWorks Common Services 3.0 and the LMS 2.5 applications to be updated before installing CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update.

•
If you do not want to install one or more of the LMS 2.5 applications at present but plan to install them later, you must reinstall CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update after you install the missing applications.
For example, if you install RME 4.0 after installing LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update, after installing RME 4.0, you must reinstall LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update.

•
You cannot select individual application updates. This update automatically detects the installed LMS 2.5 applications and installs the required updates for that specific application.
•
You cannot uninstall CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update. We recommend that you take a backup before installing CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update on Solaris.
•
If you have configured DCR Master-Slave setup, you must install this update in all of the CiscoWorks servers.
The Common Services Service Pack versions must be same in all of the DCR Master-Slave setup machines.
•
If you have configured Remote Syslog Collector (RSC) on a different server, you must upgrade RSC to RSC 4.0.1. You cannot use the RSC 4.0 that was provided with RME 4.0 for RME 4.0.3.
To upgrade RSC, you must install this update on the machine that contains RSC by following the same LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update install instruction. See Installing CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update on Solaris.
•
You must have a minimum free space of 600 MB on your hard disk to install this update.

Important Download Notes for LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update
This section contains important information that you should read before you begin downloading:
•
The Single Large File and Multiple Small Files of this update are not visible through the CiscoWorks Software Updates page (Common Services > Software Center > Software Update).
•
You must not change the filename of the update files.
•
You must download all of the Multiple Small Files in the same location.
•
You can download Multiple Small Files in any order.
•
You must have a minimum free space of 300 MB on your hard disk to download this update.
Installing CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update on Solaris
To install this update, login as root on the system on which you installed the LMS 2.5 applications. You must have superuser privileges on the system being updated.
LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update is installed in the same directory as LMS 2.5. By default, it is /opt/CSCOpx.

If you want to migrate (local) data from earlier versions of Common Services, RME, Campus Manager, and IPM onto a fresh (remote) installation of LMS 2.5.1, see the instructions provided in the Data Migration Guide for LAN Management Solution 2.5.1 at this URL:

If you want to migrate (local) DFM 1.2.x data onto a fresh (remote) installation of DFM 2.0.3, you must use the migration script provided in the DFM Upgrade Kit (for LMS 2.5.1) on Cisco.com. Log in to Cisco.com and point your browser to http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cw2000-dfm. Refer to the Readmes on the download site for installation instructions.It takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes to install the complete update for Common Services, RME, Campus Manager, and DFM.

Installing the Single Large File Update
To install the Single Large File update:

Navigate to the location on your system, where you have downloaded all of the LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update files.
Step 2
Unzip the lms25_dec2005_update_sol.zip file by entering:
# unzip lms25_dec2005_update_sol.zipThe files are extracted under the lms25_dec2005_update_sol directory.
Step 3
Change the directory to lms25_dec2005_update_sol by entering:
# cd lms25_dec2005_update_solStep 4
Run the installation setup script by entering:

Installing the Multiple Small Files Update
To install the Multiple Small Files update:
Step 1
Navigate to the location on your system, where you have downloaded all of the LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update files.
Step 2
Run the installation setup script by entering:
# sh lms25_dec05_update_sol_installer.sh•
If you have not downloaded all of the Multiple Small Files, an error message appears:
ERROR: You have not downloaded all the above files ERROR: Please download all the above files and ERROR: then run this script.Download all of the Multiple Small Files, see Multiple Small Files for list of files.

If you have downloaded all of the Multiple Small Files, a message appears:

Verifying the LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update Installation
After you install the CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update on Solaris, you can verify the installation. To do this:
Step 1
Launch CiscoWorks.
http://server_name:port_number
where server_name is the name of the CiscoWorks Server and port_number is the TCP port used by the CiscoWorks Server. In normal mode (HTTP), the default TCP port for CiscoWorks Server is 1741. When SSL is enabled (HTTPS), the default TCP port for CiscoWorks Server is 443.
Step 2
Select Common Services > Software Center > Software Update.
The Software Updates window appears.
The following entries appear in the Products Installed table for each application that you have installed:

Installing CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update for Missing LMS 2.5 Applications
If you install any of the LMS 2.5 applications after installing LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update, you must reinstall LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update once again.
To install this update, login as root on the system on which you installed the LMS 2.5 applications. You must have superuser privileges on the system being updated.
The following sections describe the procedure for:

Installing the Single Large File Update for Missing LMS 2.5 Applications
To install the Single Large File update for missing LMS 2.5 applications:

Navigate to the location on your system, where you have downloaded all of the LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update files.
Step 2

# sh lms25_dec05_update_sol_installer.sh•
If you have not downloaded all of the Multiple Small Files, an error message appears:

If you have downloaded all of the Multiple Small Files, a message appears:

Re-installing CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update
To reinstall CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update, follow the instructions in the section, Installing CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update on Solaris.
CautionIf you re-install the base LMS 2.5 applications, you will lose all of the LMS 2.5 update functionalities. You need to re-install CiscoWorks LMS 2.5 December 2005 Update over LMS 2.5, to regain the LMS 2.5 Update functionality.

When updating to DFM 2.0.3 using LMS 2.5.1 Update 2, the DFM rediscovery schedule sometimes fails to run.

When LMS 2.5 Update 2 is installed over DFM 2.0 Service Pack 2 on Solaris, if the user selects Software Center > Software Update, the Patches Installed table lists DFM 2.0-SP2, Version SP2. It should be blank.
