Features

The features of HUM 1.0 are:

Measures network performance by monitoring device components such as memory, CPU, interface ports for their Utilization and Availability levels.

System-defined MIB templates for user convenience

CiscoWorks HUM provides System-defined MIB templates that allow network administrators to create Pollers easily. System-defined MIB templates provide most of the common network parameters that you need to monitor a device that is connected to the network.

User-defined MIB templates

CiscoWorks HUM allows network administrators to create custom or user-defined MIB templates. It is done by leveraging MIB variables from System-defined MIB templates or by grouping new MIB variables.

Supports polling of additional SNMP data

CiscoWorks HUM allows network administrators to add any other Cisco MIB. This is apart from the standard MIBs that are provided as part of the application to create pollers.

Flexible polling frequencies

CiscoWorks HUM provides flexible polling frequencies or intervals ranging between 1 minute and 8 hours.

Historical trending reports

CiscoWorks HUM offers comprehensive reporting on the data collected by polling the device. The polled information is displayed as reports. These reports help the network administrator to analyze the utilization and availability of devices connected to the network.

Top-N/Bottom-N reporting

Provides Top-N/Bottom-N reporting on devices that have the highest or lowest utilization or availability values.

Alerts and notifications

CiscoWorks HUM allows network administrators to set threshold values against the utilization and availability levels of device parameters such as memory, CPU, interface and so on. If threshold values are violated, HUM notifies the network administrator through e-mails.

Scalability Limits

CiscoWorks HUM supports scalability of upto 1000 devices.

For more details about the features in HUM 1.0, see the User Guide for CiscoWorks Health and Utilization Monitor 1.0.

If you edit or copy a template that you created using a newly loaded MIB, it does not display the MIB file in the Show MIB drop-down list.

This problem occurs when you create a template using HOST-RESOURCES-MIB or IF-MIB.

If you edit or copy the template, the flow does not display the corresponding MIB in the Show MIB drop-down list, instead it displays the following MIB files:

CISCO-ENHANCED-MEMPOOL-MIB (if you have selected HOST-RESOURCES-MIB) with an unselected RFC1213-MIB tree.

RFC1213-MIB (if you have selected IF-MIB) with pre-selected RFC1213-MIB tree.

Workaround:

Create a new template.

CSCsl00432

UPMProcess is down.

This problem occurs when the System Identity User in ACS mode does not have the required privileges to run HUM tasks.

Workaround:

Update the System Identity User in ACS with Super Admin privileges to run HUM tasks.

To restart the UPMProcess, go to command prompt and enter pdexec UPMProcess.

CSCsk63597

Cannot add and edit templates in the same browser session.

This problem happens occurs when you:

1. Go to Template Management page.

2. Select a template and click either Edit or Copy.

The Select MIB Variables page appears.

3. Open Poller Management page in another tab/page.

4. Go to Poller Create or Edit flow and click Add User Defined Template.

You will not be able to create a user-defined template.

5. Go to template edit tab/page and click the Cancel button.

6. The Select MIB Variables page does not take you to the Template Management page, instead it takes you to the Select Devices and Templates page.

This happens when you try to Edit and Create templates in the same browser session.

Workaround:
