A message appears:

Enter the location where the product will be installed or q to quit. Default location (PKGROOT)? [/usr/CSCOpx]

Step 3 Press Enter to accept the default directory for product installation, or enter a different directory.

The installation program performs several preinstallation checks on your machine, such as TCP/IP address resolution, TCP/IP port use, disk space, and RAM. These preinstallation checks cause some text to appear on the screen.

Answer any questions that result from the checks.

The installation program displays many messages about the various packages being installed and the services being started. The packages include application software and device adapter packages for all devices that can be managed with Campus applications.

The installation completes, installing Campus in the same location as CD One (/usr/CSCOpx by default).

If errors occurred during installation, check the installation log file /var/tmp/ciscoinstall.log. For information troubleshooting, refer to "Troubleshooting the Installation."

After the installation finishes, choose one of the following:

If you have a database from a previous version of CWSI Campus to import into Campus Manager 3.1, refer to the "Importing Data After Installation" section.

If you do not have a database to import, continue to "Preparing to Use Campus Manager."

Note For more information about the ANI database, refer to the "Understanding the Data Conversion" section.

Performing an Upgrade Installation

You can upgrade to Campus Manager 3.1 from CWSI Campus 2.4, Campus Manager 3.0, or Campus Manager 3.0.1. For versions of CWSI Campus earlier than version 2.4, uninstall the application or upgrade to CWSI Campus 2.4 before upgrading to Campus 3.1.

Campus requires CiscoWorks2000 CD One Fourth Edition, which is the foundation for the CiscoWorks2000 Family of Products; it includes the CiscoWorks2000 Server and the ANI Server.

When you install CiscoWorks2000 CD One, the previous version of CWSI Campus is removed and its database is preserved. When you install Campus Manager 3.1, the preserved database is converted to Campus Manager 3.1 format. For versions of CiscoWorks2000 CD One earlier than the Fourth Edition, you must upgrade to CiscoWorks2000 CD One Fourth Edition before installing or upgrading to Campus 3.1.

When you install Campus Manager 3.1, certain data from the preserved database is converted to Campus Manager 3.1 format. This data includes:

SNMP community strings

User Tracking manually entered data fields

Seed devices

If you are upgrading from Campus Manager 3.0 or Campus Manager 3.0.1, Topology Services saves certain views during installation. These views include:

Layer 2 View

Unconnected Device View

LAN Edge View

For versions of CiscoWorks2000 CD One earlier than the 4th Edition, you must upgrade to CiscoWorks2000 CD One, 4th Edition before installing or upgrading to Campus 3.1.

Note Uninstalling Campus deletes the ANI database. For more information about the ANI database, refer to the "Understanding the Data Conversion" section.

Installation Notes

You must install CiscoWorks2000 CD One Fourth Edition before installing Campus. Refer to Installing and Setting Up CiscoWorks2000 CD One, 4th Edition AIX.

Campus is installed in the default directory /usr/CSCOpx. If you selected another directory during the CiscoWorks2000 CD One Fourth Edition installation, Campus is installed in that directory.

Note You can cancel the installation at any time by pressing Ctrl-C.
However, any changes to your system (for example, installation of new files or changes to system files) will not be undone. Refer to Release Notes for CiscoWorks2000 CD One 4th Edition on AIX for instructions to manually clean up the system.

Refer to "Mounting and Unmounting the CD-ROM" for detailed mounting instructions.

Step 2 Run the installation program.

For a local installation, enter:

# cd /cdrom
# ./setup.sh

For a remote installation, enter:

# cd remotedir
# ./setup.sh

where remotedir is the remote location where the CD-ROM is mounted.

Note Campus will be installed in the same location as CiscoWorks2000 CD One Fourth Edition. The default is /usr/CSCOpx.

Step 3 A prompt appears:

CW2000 has been detected on your system, are you sure you want to reinstall (y/n)? [n]

Enter y to continue to uninstall or n to cancel.

The installation program checks on your system for compatible patches, dependencies, diskspace, memory (RAM), and swap space.

Step 4 Answer any questions that result from the pre-installation checks:

The installation program displays many messages about the various packages being installed and the services being started. The packages include application software and device adapter packages. The packages for all devices that can be managed with Campus applications are installed. The database is converted.

Note The upgraded view might not be formatted exactly the same as the previous version of the view because of the new features in Campus Manager 3.1.

Importing Data After Installation

This section describes how to manually import data from previous versions of Campus. You might need to import manually if you performed a new installation of Campus but have data from previous versions of the software on a different system.

Understanding the Data Conversion

Certain data must be converted from CWSI Campus2.4, Campus Manager 3.0, or Campus Manager 3.0.1 format to Campus Manager 3.1 format.

Converting Campus Data

Campus Manager accesses the ANI database for critical network information. The database from CWSI 2.4, Campus Manager 3.0, or Campus Manager 3.0.1 is saved, and certain data from the database can be converted to Campus Manager 3.1 format for immediate use.

The CiscoWorks2000 CD One installation, which is required for the Campus Manager installation, automatically saves your old database. When you install Campus Manager, the saved database is imported into the new file, ani.db. After you import your database into Campus Manager 3.1, the old CWSI database, called cwsi.db, remains in the directory you indicated during the CD One install until you remove it.

For more information about the ANI database, refer to the ANI online help or Getting Started with the CiscoWorks2000 Server.

Converting CWSI 2.4 Data

The community strings are transferred from the old communities.dat file (specified by the Community File property in the ani.properties file) to the new anisnmp.conf file. The following properties from the CWSI ani.properties file are updated in the new ANIServer.properties file:

Discovery.seed

Discovery.router

Domains.include

Domains.exclude

The User Tracking data is extracted from the old cwsi.db file and saved as bg_ut.txt. This data is found and processed during the first User Tracking discovery.

Converting Campus 3.0 and Campus 3.0.1 Data

The community strings are upgraded from the old anisnmp.conf file to the updated anisnmp.conf file. The following properties from the old ANIServer.properties file are updated in the new ANIServer.properties file:

Discovery.seed

Discovery.router

Domains.subnets.include

Discovery.subnets.exclude

The User Tracking data is extracted from the old ani.db file and saved as rigel_ut.txt. This data is found and processed during the first User Tracking discovery.

Topology Services saves topology views from Campus Manager 3.0 and 3.0.1. The following views are saved:

Layer 2 View

Unconnected Device View

LAN Edge View

After Campus is installed, Topology Services allows you to either convert the saved views into the new Campus Manager 3.1 format or directly use the default views generated by Campus Manager 3.1.

Importing Data Manually From CWSI 2.4

To import data manually:

Step 1 Install CiscoWorks2000 CD One, 4th Edition and Campus Manager 3.1.

Step 2 Log in as root.

Step 3 Mount the directory containing the previous data or copy the data to the CiscoWorks2000 Server.

Step 4 Stop the daemon manager on the local machine.

Step 5 Enter:

# cd /
# opt/CSCOpx/conf/bg2rigel/scripts/bg2rigel.pl -l <CWSI data path> cm

The converted database is called ani.db.

Step 6 Start the daemon manager on the local system.

When you access Campus applications, the database will be found. You should immediately backup the converted ANI database.

Continue to "Preparing to Use Campus Manager."

Importing Data Manually from Campus Manager 3.0 and 3.0.1
