Summary
Explanation

CSCse47286

Multiple locations overlap in the network topology map

When multiple locations are shown in the network topology map, the icons for each location overlap.

To work around the problem, select the Automatic Layout icon in the network topology map toolbar or drag and drop the icons to the desired location.

CSCse84730

The topology map displays a device as both a managed device and a neighbor

The network topology map sometimes displays a device as both a managed device and a neighbor. This problem occurs when the hostname or domain name is changed on one device and CDP on neighbor routers is not refreshed until a CDP timeout. If you discover devices or click Refresh in the main application window before CDP is refreshed, the network topology map displays the device as a neighbor device as well as a managed device.

To work around the problem, manually refresh the application to update the topology map so that the map displays the correct device details.

CSCse87109

Installation/uninstallation of Cisco Monitor Manager and Cisco Monitor Director cannot proceed when antivirus software is installed and disabled

When antivirus software is installed and disabled, installing or uninstalling Cisco Monitor Manager and Cisco Monitor Director results in an error, and the installation or uninstallation cannot proceed.

To work around the problem, ensure that any installed antivirus software is running before installing or uninstalling Cisco Monitor Manager and Cisco Monitor Director.

CSCse96584

NAM module discovered as separate device

Cisco Monitor Manager incorrectly discovers and displays the NAM module as a separate device.

There is no workaround.

CSCse98007

Inventory reports show all interfaces on stack devices after slave device is powered down

When a stack slave becomes unreachable, Cisco Monitor Manager does not show it in the topology map, but it displays it in inventory reports.

To work around the problem, verify the stack device configuration and rediscover the device.

CSCsf23263

Cisco Monitor Manager sometimes does not discover remote sites through VPN

When a device has a VPN peer, Cisco Monitor Manager prompts for the VPN peer IP address either when you discover the device or in the Add Device dialog box. Sometimes, however, it does not display a prompt for the VPN peer.

To work around the problem, rediscover the device or manually add the VPN peer device.

CSCsg07886

Status for a stack device, after being converted from a cluster device, is incorrect

After a stack device is changed to a cluster device, the Discover Devices dialog box displays the status for the device as Unreachable instead of Unsupported Configuration.

There is no workaround.

CSCsg40586

Cisco Catalyst Express 500 Series switches are not displayed in the Smartports Device Setup tab

Cisco Catalyst Express 500 Series switches are displayed in the Port Setup tab in the Smartports window but not in the Device Setup tab.

There is no workaround.

CSCsg74128

Uninstallation or reinstallation of Cisco Monitor Manager and/or Cisco Monitor Director may result in error conditions

To avoid this problem, do the following:

1. Ensure that Cisco Monitor Manager/Cisco Monitor Director is not running. For Cisco Monitor Director, also ensure that the Cisco Monitor Director service is stopped.

2. Ensure that there are no open folders containing the application installation directory or its subdirectories.

3. Ensure that the CLI command prompt is not pointing to the installation directory or its subdirectories.

If you receive an error during uninstallation or reinstallation, you can work around the problem by restarting the system when the error messages appears; then, proceed with the installation or uninstallation.

CSCsh62348

PC gateway IP address not displayed when CSA is running

When Cisco Security Agent (CSA) is running, the PC gateway IP address is not displayed in the Discover Devices window.

To work around the problem, enter the gateway IP address manually.

CSCsh85319

Cisco Monitor Manager and/or Cisco Monitor Director do not start and display errors

Cisco Monitor Manager and/or Cisco Monitor Director do not start after a successful installation or when they are launched from Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP), and the following error messages appear:

Couldn't create Java Virtual Machine

and

Error occurred during initialization

To work around the problem, modify the JVM_MAXIMUM_HEAP value in the startup.properties file; this file is located in the <Cisco Monitor Manager/Cisco Monitor Director installation directory>\startup directory. You must set a value that is less than 1024m; for example, you can enter 256m, 512m, or 786m as values.

If you continue to see these errors after modifying the value, continue to decrease the value until the application starts.

Note Decreasing the JVM_MAXIMUM_HEAP value may decrease the performance of the application.

CSCsi12575

During installation, sometimes the Browse button and/or the full installation directory name do not appear

Sometimes, during the installation of Cisco Monitor Manager, the Browse button does not appear on the screen that displays the installation directory name. Also, sometimes this screen does not display the full installation path directory name in the Directory Name field.

To work around these problems, click Back to go to the previous installation screen, then click Next to return to the screen that displays the installation directory name. The Browse button appears on this screen, and the full installation path directory name is displayed.

Note If you do not want to change the installation directory path name, you do not have to perform the workaround; you can click Next on the screen that displays the installation directory name and proceed with the installation.

CSCsi43411

Discovery stops and screens are grayed out during real-time monitoring

When utilization and inventory report windows are open during real-time monitoring, the screens become grayed out and discovery stops.

To work around the problem, shut down and restart the application to properly display the appropriate windows.

CSCsi47436

Security certificate, VPN peer IP address, and/or device credential dialog boxes sometimes disappear behind the Discover Devices dialog box

When you discover a device in the Discover Devices dialog box, the application sometimes displays the following dialog boxes as prompts:

Security Certificate

VPN Peer IP Address

Device Credentials

Sometimes, these dialog boxes disappear behind the Discover Devices dialog box, and the device discovery appears to hang.

To work around the problem, open the hidden dialog box through the taskbar and close it.

CSCsi78574

Cisco Unity Express monitoring report does not launch if the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express monitoring report is open

Cisco Unity Express monitoring report does not start if the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express monitoring report is open and has been launched from the right-click (context) menu in the topology map.

To work around the problem, launch the Cisco Unity Express report first, and then launch the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express report.

CSCsi81135

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express device manager does not launch from right-clicking in the topology map

When you right-click a device running Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express in the network topology map and try to open the device manager, the user interface for the device manager does not launch. This problem occurs if the router IP address and the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express source IP address are different, and the browser is launched using the router IP address.

To work around the problem, enter the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express source IP address instead of the router IP address in the browser after it is launched.

CSCsi81570

E-mail cannot be sent when McAfee VirusScan Enterprise installed on the application server

After Cisco Monitor Manager is installed on a server that has McAfee VirusScan Enterprise installed, you cannot send e-mail from Cisco Monitor Manager and/or Cisco Monitor Director unless port 25 is released.

To work around the problem, release port 25 on the application server. Do the following

1. Launch the VirusScan Console window.

2. Right-click the Access Protection task; then, select Properties.

3. In the Port Blocking tab, uncheck the Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail check box; then, click Apply.

4. Click OK.

CScsi81632

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express device manager does not launch on a Windows 2000 Server

On machines running Windows 2000 Server, Cisco Monitor Manager launches a browser for the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express device manager, but it does not display the device manager in the browser. The following error message is displayed:

Problem with Shortcut.
Unable to open "<url>".

To work around the problem, start the device manager manually by entering the following into the address bar of the browser:

http://<IP_address>/ccme.html

where <IP_address> is the IP address of the device running Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express.
