Minimum Cisco IOS Releases
Table 1 lists the minimum software releases required for the devices that Cisco Configuration Assistant manages.
Limitations and Restrictions
These limitations and restrictions will not be addressed, and there is not always a workaround:
•
The following limitations apply to deployment of Cisco IP Phone SPA525G phones in Wireless-G mode using Cisco Configuration Assistant 1.9:
–
Multicast Music on Hold (MoH) for internal calls (IP phone-to-IP phone) is not supported for this solution and must be disabled using CCA.
When you disable MoH for internal calls, Music on Hold for the external MoH port on the UC500 is also disabled.
To disable Music on Hold for internal calls using CCA:
1. Launch CCA and navigate to Configure > Telephony > Voice.
2. Click the Voice Features tab and go to the Music on Hold section of the tab.
3. Uncheck both Enable external music on hold port and Enable music on hold for internal calls.
–
Unicast paging groups are required with Cisco SPA525G wireless phones. A maximum of ten (10) phones can be in a unicast paging group.
–
The SPA525G phone is not designed to comply with Japanese Wi-Fi requirements. Specifically it does not support channel 14. The AP521G-PK9 SKU also does not support channel 14.
For detailed information on supported reference designs, limitations and caveats for deployment of Cisco IP Phone SPA525G phones, see the Cisco SPA525G Wireless Deployment Guide for Cisco SBCS, available at http://www.cisco.com/go/sbcs-docs.
•
The following known issues in Cisco IOS apply to Cisco IP Phone SPA525G phones and CME:
–
CSCsv90534 — Incorrect Call prompt message is showing on the SPA525G phone prompt bar (no workaround).
–
CSCsw23145 — The Cisco IOS CLI configuration menu shows the wrong name for the SPA525G IP phone. As a result, The UC520 configuration "type 525G" description is "Cisco IP Phone CP-525G," which is incorrect.
•
You cannot switch the mode of a Cisco Configuration Assistant feature (from guide mode to expert mode or the reverse) while the feature is in use. The workaround is to close the window that you are using, select the mode that you want, and then reselect the feature.
•
In the Port Settings window, you must apply a change to speed settings before you can change a duplex setting. After you configure a speed setting, click Apply, and then configure a duplex setting.
•
You must use the Smartports feature to apply an Access Point role to Catalyst Express switch ports and Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series ports that are connected to wireless LAN controllers, autonomous access points, or lightweight access points.
•
When you create or modify a service set identifier (SSID) for a wireless LAN controller:
–
Assign the native VLAN to it only if the native VLAN is VLAN 1.
–
Ensure that the IP address of the management and AP manager interfaces of the wireless LAN controller belong to the native VLAN.
•
When you create or modify an SSID for an autonomous access point:
–
Check Native VLAN only if the assigned VLAN is the native VLAN.
–
Ensure that the IP address of the autonomous access point belongs to the native VLAN.
Important Notes
When you start Cisco Configuration Assistant, Java determines whether the resources it needs are available. If they are not, Java displays the message Could not create Java Virtual machine, and the session ends. To overcome this problem, open the file C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\CiscoSMB\Cisco Configuration Assistant\startup\startup.properties (the default installation path), and modify this entry:
JVM_MAXIMUM_HEAP=1024m
Replace 1024m with a lower setting that does not exceed the available RAM. There is no way to foresee what value will work. Try 512m, and lower it further if necessary.
You can use the dial peer tag range 2500 to 2999 out-of-band to define your own dial peers.
If the Configuration Assistant InstallShield wizard fails to start, it is likely that there is a problem with the temporary folder location defined through the environment variables TMP and TEMP. Assigning a correct temporary folder location can fix this problem.
Open Caveats
This section describes the open caveats that could create unexpected activity in this software release.
CSCsy09835 - CCA1.9 to 1.9.1 application update issuesSymptom When performing an application update from Configuration Assistant Version 1.9 to Version 1.9.1, users may encounter the following issues:
•
Null pointer exception at start-up during application update
•
The Help > About window cannot be launched right after the application update
•
Configuration Assistant cannot go online right after application update, and a null pointer exception is shown in the console log
Workaround
To work around the first two issues, relaunch Configuration Assistant. To work around the third issue (Configuration Assistant cannot go online after application update), uninstall Configuration Assistant Version 1.9 and perform a clean, full installation of Version 1.9.1.
CSCsw97803 - Reset to factory default function sometimes fails to reload the routerSymptom After performing a Reset to Factory Defaults using Configuration Assistant, the router is not always reloaded. As a result, although CUE is in factory default state, the router IOS is in the running configuration.
Workaround
Manually reset the router using either Configuration Assistant or Cisco IOS CLI.
CSCsx86872 - ST: Day 2 mods for custom SIP Provider incorrect if from different PCSome day 2 additions or modifications under Telephony are mis-configured for a custom SIP Provider. For example, an added DID may not register correctly. The custom SIP Provider name is shown in the SIP Provider drop-down list, but no template information is displayed, and the Configuration Assistant application log contains the following error:
++: ERROR: : SIPData: SIP Provider read from device is not supported by any template: <PROVIDER NAME>The problem occurs when a custom SIP Provider has been configured on the UC520, but the Cisco Configuration Assistant installation reading the configuration does not have the SIP Provider template (.xml) added.
In order to configure the custom SIP Provider on the UC520 initially, the SIP Provider template (.xml) must be added to the CCA installation. Once applied to the UC520, that configuration may be read back by any other CCA installation, even if the custom SIP Provider was not added by the user. The problem occurs when modifications are made, and in this case, all attributes of that provider will be the system default.
In addition to SIP Trunk configurations, the following Telephony configurations are known to depend on the attributes defined by the SIP Provider template (.xml) for correct behavior:
•
Dial Plan: Outbound Call Handling
•
Dial Plan: Inbound Call Handling
•
Voicemail PSTN number
•
AA PSTN numbers
•
Analog Fax
Workaround
To work around this problem, use only the original CCA installation to make Telephony related modifications OR add the custom SIP Provider template (.xml) to all Configuration Assistant installations that may be used to configure the same UC520.
Symptom A DID is not registered when Service Provider SIP trunk configuration is loaded to the UC500 from two different devices (for example, from two PCs).
Workaround
Only one device should be used to perform configuration of the SIP template using Configuration Assistant.
CSCsx30783 - Speed dial XML file is not removed during reset to factory defaultSymptom The speed dial XML file present in the flash is not being when resetting the device to factory default using Configuration Assistant.
Workaround
Manually remove the speed dial .xml file from the flash after a factory reset to defaults from the Maintenance > File Management window within Configuration Assistant.
CSCsx22527 - Cannot launch Wireless Setup WizardSymptom On a PC with the Quick Test Pro Java add-in installed, the Wireless Setup Wizard fails to launch and displays a Java error.
Workaround
Uninstall the Quick Test Pro Java add-in, then re-launch Configuration Assistant. The Wireless Setup Wizard should now launch correctly.
CSCsv74789 - Auto uploading of phone load does not work for new SPA525G phoneSymptom After putting phoneload (for example, spa525g-7-1-1-020.bin) in the phoneload directory (c:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\CiscoSMB\Cisco Configuration Assistant\Appdata\phoneloads) and modifying user information on Users tab, CCA does not automatically upload the phone firmware and configure tftp-server and load command.
Workaround
Phone loads for the Cisco IP Phones are not uploaded from the phoneloads folder. You must install the UC500 Software Pack 7.0.2. zip file, which contains the phone loads.
CSCsv89726 - Timeout observed during Configuration Archive > Back UpSymptom Timeout observed during configuration backup when the PC running Cisco Configuration Assistant has one network with IP Address of 192.168.10.20, Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0, and no IP address for the Default Gateway. The back-up process for the UC500 starts, but when the back-up Progress reached about 14%, it returns a "Backup failed" message, and the log indicates a TFTP timeout.
Workaround
Set the Default Gateway to 192.168.10.1 on the PC running Cisco Configuration Assistant.
CSCsw45797 - Modified information not reflected in GUI while traversing back on DSWSymptom When configuring the Device Setup Wizard (DSW), if user goes back to previous pages, and then move forward to the current page, the information entered previously is not retained.
Workaround
Re-enter the values.
CSCsw97803 - Reset to factory default function does not always reload the routerSymptom The reset to factory default function does not always reload the router. CUE will be in factory default state; however, the router IOS side is still in the running config.
Workaround
Use either Cisco IOS CLI or Cisco Configuration Assistant to manually reload the router.
CSCsu96289 - CCA should not allow Software Upgrade or Backup/Restore windows to launch while voice data is loadingSymptom If you open the Software Upgrade window before the voice data is loaded and try to do a CUE Only upgrade, it fails. Also, the CUE version is not shown in the Current version column.
Workaround
Close the Upgrade window and re-open it after the voice data completes loading.
CSCsw39035 - Configured user is not displayed in the hunt/blast down listSymptom The extension numbers are not shown in hunt or call blast group extension list or member list.
When users configure two or more users with the same extension number, CCA requires users to correct the extensions to prevent duplication. After correction, the number that was duplicated is not shown in the hunt or call blast group lists.
Workaround
Users can apply the extension modification to device to correct the duplicate, close the Voice window, and then relaunch the Voice window to configure hunt and blast groups.
CSCsw74122 - CCA does not validate extensions against Live Record numberSymptom CCA does not validate the Live Record pilot number. If the user configures a Live Record pilot number that begins with an access code or is the same as an existing extension, calls will fail.
Workaround
Users must manually verify that the extension specified for the Live Record pilot number does not begin with an access code, is unique across the system (not assigned to the Auto Attendant, hunt group pilot number, phone users, or AA prompt management extension).
CSCsu81384 - Intercom: Label for Intercom is editable but is not applied on routerSymptom When a user selects a phone button as an intercom and edits the button label, the button label that the user entered is replaced with "Intercom <user name>" by Cisco Configuration Assistant when the change is applied on the router.
Workaround
None.
CSCsu45838 - Dial Plan: Outgoing Numbers do not properly show out-of-band permissionsSymptom For Outgoing Numbers configured on from Dial Plan tab in the Voice window, permissions may be blank or upon selection of the Permissions field, the current value is lost. This can occur if the Permissions value is not supported—that is, it does not map to one of the following categories:
•
Local, Local-Plus
•
National, National-Plus
•
International
•
Blocked
•
Emergency
•
Toll-Free
Workaround
If the current value is lost, it may be restored by refreshing or closing and reopening the Voice window.
For any Outgoing Number with a permission not supported or configured by Cisco Configuration Assistant, use caution when making modifications and do not click the Permissions field.
Outgoing Number Permissions map to the following CLI:
dial-peer voice <tag> pots
corlist outgoing <corlist name>
For any out-of-band configuration, Cisco Configuration Assistant typically displays the value as greyed out/disabled and does not allow further modification.
CSCsv62730- Dial Plan: Incoming dial plan does not handle swapping of AA numbersSymptom When there are two Auto-Attendants configured as destinations for Many-to-One dial plans, and the pilot numbers of the two Auto-Attendants are swapped, both Many-to-One dial plans are configured with the same Auto-Attendant as the destination.
Workaround
The swapping of Auto-Attendant numbers must be done in two operations.
For example, if the AA1 number is 600 and the AA2 number is 601, instead of swapping the numbers in one Apply or OK operation, set AA1 to some other number, for example, "700," set AA2 to 600, and click Apply or OK. To complete the swap, set AA1 to 601 and click Apply or OK.
CSCsv16181 - DP: FXO incoming to hunt group or call blast group, configuration is removed when pilot number is modifiedSymptom While modifying a hunt group or call blast group pilot number, the corresponding DID dial plan configuration is not updated. This issue occurs when the destination specified by the dial plan for an incoming DID (Many-to-One) is a hunt group or call blast group, and the pilot number for the group is updated.
Workaround
To correct the problem:
1.
Delete the DID translation from the dial plan.
2.
Update the hunt group or call blast group pilot number.
3.
Re-create the DID translation in the dial plan so that it point to the new pilot number.
CSCsw65601 - [IPS]:Modify label in error message areaCCA does not give further detailed error message for invalid public key.
Symptom When the public key submitted for IPS is invalid, the error message area at the top of the screen displays the message, "Click on red items to show further details," but no details are shown. ("Invalid public key" should be displayed for the label).
Workaround
Update the public key to a valid one and retry the operation.
CSCsw66202 - Issue in modifying default route IP from factory default configurationSymptom The Default Gateway from the factory default configuration is not removed when the IP configuration type is changed to Static.
Workaround
First, change the factory default IP configuration type to PPPoE-DHCP, then change the IP configuration type to Static.
CSCsw90152 - CCA shows flash space available = -1 when there is a flash error on the UC520Symptom When there is an issue with UC520 flash, the Cisco Configuration Assistant Software Upgrade window shows available space on flash as -1. This issue typically occurs during when a software package is downgraded to a prior version.
Workaround
Replace the flash or reload the router, then use the show flash: or dir flash: command to see if the flash is OK.
CSCsw89917 - CCA only displays the first DCHP pool exclusion when multiple exclusions are configuredSymptom CCA only displays the first DHCP pool exclusion for multiple exclusion configuration. DHCP pools are not able to follow multiple exclusions. For example, if the following exclusions are configured using Configure > DHCP Server > DHCP Exclusions:
192.168.2.1 - 192.168.2.39
192.168.2.60 - 192.168.2.65
192.168.2.245 - 192.168.2.254
Only the first DHCP pool 192.168.2.40 through 192.168.2.59 is displayed. 192.168.2.66 through 192.168.2.244 should also be listed as a valid DHCP pool, but is not.
Workaround
None — There is no functional impact.
CSCsw91364 - CCA DSW VLAN 1 Address change problemSymptom The following issues are seen when the Device Setup Wizard is re-run after the initial setup to change the VLAN 1 IP address:
•
IP NAT configuration is not updated to the latest VLAN IP address.
•
If the user runs the Device Setup Wizard a second time (after the first time, the IP address is changed from the factory default IP address), CCA still displays the factory default 192.168.10.1 instead of the modified IP address.
Workaround
Reconfigure NAT after the Device Setup Wizard VLAN 1 IP address change.
CSCsw87298 - DP: interdigit timeout, CCA cannot read the default timeout 10Symptom CCA cannot read the default interdigit timeout 10. If user configure 10 seconds of interdigit timeout value from CCA Dial Plan tab, CCA will show default 5 seconds on the GUI, even though 10 seconds is configured on the router.
Workaround
Change the interdigit timeout value to 11 or 9 seconds.
CSCsw92347 - DP:CCA cannot read back access code for emergency # if trunk list noneSymptom Access code for Emergency number will not be read back by CCA if the there is no trunk (T1/E1, BRI, FXO or SIP) associated with the emergency number (that is, None is selected for the trunk list for the emergency number).
Workaround
An emergency number must always be associated with a trunk. You must either delete the emergency number or associate it with a trunk.
CSCsw68412 - APP_Video: Error message while enabling video telephonySymptom The user interface shows the wrong information when user disables, then enables the Video Telephony application through Cisco Configuration Assistant. The issue is seen when the user:
1.
Launches Cisco Configuration Assistant and connects to the UC500.
2.
Opens the Applications Control window.
3.
Disables Video Telephony and applies the configuration.
4.
Attempts to re-enable Video Telephony.
The error message "Failed to enable the application video telephony" displays, but Video Telephony is enabled in the router.
Workaround
Relaunch Cisco Configuration Assistant, and the correct status is displayed.
CSCsu45832 - DP: Incoming DID Migration triggered on FXO only; cannot open DIDProblem
When Voice configuration is applied, the Voice > Dial Plan > Incoming Call Handling section displays the following error message:
Your current configuration needs to be updated with new Dial plan. Click Configure button to provide necessary information.
However, the Direct Inward Dial Translations (DID) Configure button is disabled.
Multiple conditions must be present to trigger this condition:
•
FXO only is present.
and
•
One or more users have a defined PSTN Number.
and either:
(a) The router was just previously configured with CCA 1.0/1,
or
(b) User information was just imported via the Voice Features > Users tab.
Workaround
Perform the following steps to remove DID configuration:
1.
Enable a SIP Trunk by selecting a Service Provider. This will enable the DID Configure button.
2.
Open DID window and delete all DIDs present.
3.
Select OK.
4.
Disable SIP Trunk by selecting None as the Service Provider.
Alternatively, if the issue is caused by (b) above, remove all PSTN numbers from the imported file.
Note that FXO does not support DID configuration. All PSTN numbers are handled by the FXO Service Provider.
CSCsw43631 - ST- Cbeyond: phone type "analog fax" is not persistentSymptom When the Voice window is opened, the value "analog-phone" is shown for the Phone Type, instead of the previously configured "analog-fax". When changes are applied in the Voice window, an error may be triggered if user information is not present.
The following conditions must be present to trigger this condition:
•
SIP Trunk is also enabled (the "analog-fax" selection is only available when SIP Trunk is enabled).
•
The SIP Trunk Service Provider is Cbeyond, Generic SIP Trunk Provider, or any Service Provider that has G.711 specified as the preferred voice codec and G.711 specified as the fax protocol.
Workaround
Reselect analog-fax as the Phone Type when re-applying changes to the Voice window. This is recommended so that you can avoid any errors and any override of CF configuration, in case the Voicemail Access Extension is also changed.
Note
The selection of "analog-fax" allows user information (last/first name, userid, CF options) to be blank and optional.
CSCsu44759 - CCA should warn the user or remove Firewall from vlan 100 when it is unchecked.Symptom The firewall settings on the VLAN 100 and loopback 0 interfaces are not removed when invoking Cisco Configuration Assistant on a Cisco UC520 with a default firewall configuration. Note: VLAN 100 is used as the voice vlan and loopback 0 is used for tftp source-interface and sccp.
Workaround
This is as designed.
CSCsh99313 - Cisco Configuration Assistant is using the same username-password to access multiple devicesSymptom Users can discover and add a wireless LAN controller to a community regardless of the privilege setting for the device (read-write or read-only) or the privilege setting of the community (read-write or read-only).
Workaround
The privilege settings for the wireless LAN controllers in a community should be the same when the same username and password pairs are associated with them. You should enter only read-write username and password pairs when discovering wireless LAN controllers in a read-write community, and you should enter the read-only username and password pairs when discovering wireless LAN controllers in a read-only community.
CSCsi14709 - Commands are sent to router without changes being made.Symptom The default command, listed in the options under config-track, sends an error when it is used.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsi51896 - The x-launch does not open the window for the desired deviceSymptom When a community has more than one wireless LAN controller and you open the Create SSID window, the Create Interface window, or the Configure RADIUS Server window from another feature window, the hostname that you selected in the original window might not be the same one that is shown in the new window.
Workaround
Look for this change, and select the original hostname if necessary.
CSCsi84426 - Cisco Configuration Assistant error message for the access point reload failureSymptom After you upgrade the software of an autonomous access point, the device cannot be reloaded if it receives a new IP address from DHCP.
Workaround
Remove the access point from the community, and add it back with the new IP address.
CSCsj15145 - Configuration might be duplicated if IP connectivity is broken when applyingSymptom If it loses IP connectivity to a UC520, Cisco Configuration Assistant might duplicate elements of the voice configuration. This is most common when applying the initial configuration changes to the default UC520 factory configuration.
Workaround
Use a static IP address instead of a dynamic IP address.
CSCsj15177 - User parameters tab is not validated correctly with default configurationSymptom Although you have not completed all the required configuration items in the User Parameters tab, Cisco Configuration Assistant incorrectly highlights the tab in green; it should be highlighted in red.
Workaround
Complete the required fields, and click Apply.
CSCsj46571 - System reload should include CUE module reload functionalitySymptom The system reload feature of Cisco Configuration Assistant does not reload the CUE module. This can cause CUE data corruption problems because CUE should be shut down before reloading the Cisco IOS software.
Workaround
Manually reload the CUE module. Establish a Telnet session with the module, and enter these commands:
service-module Integrated-Service-Engine 0/0 sessioncopy running-config startup-configreloadReplace 0/0 with the actual slot/port number.
CSCsj69140 — New cue image name not shown immediately after tarball upgradeSymptom For the UC500 series devices, after a successful software upgrade of all the software or only the CUE software, the value in the Current Version column continues to show the previous CUE version.
Workaround
To display the correct CUE version, close and then reopen the Software Upgrade window.
CSCsj69341 - Online Help does not display when configuring a UC520 in Guide ModeSymptom When configuring a UC520 in Guide Mode, the related Online Help does not display.
Workaround
Change to Expert Mode to configure the device. To display the Help content, click Help. The help content is the same in Expert Mode and Guide Mode.
CSCsj70928 - Create SSID does not show VLANs in pull downSymptom When using AAP 521 to create SSIDs for wireless networks, the VLAN drop-down menu might not display any VLAN IDs.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsj75176 - Mandatory for the user to remove or change the default credentialSymptom The 800 series routers and the UC500 are shipped with a default configuration that contains default user credentials (cisco/cisco). Cisco Configuration Assistant does not force you to change these default credentials after the initial configuration, therefore leaving a potential security hole in a production network.
Workaround
Secure all UC500 and 800 series devices by replacing the default cisco-user with a new admin-user, as follows:
1.
From the Device Properties menu on the Configuration tab, select Users and Passwords.
2.
Select a device from the device list. The local usernames for the selected device appear.
3.
Click Create.
4.
Enter the new username and password, and set the privilege level to 15.
5.
Click OK. The new user appears in the local usernames list.
6.
Select the default user cisco.
7.
Click Delete, and then click OK.
8.
Repeat Step 2 through Step 6 for each device.
CSCsj84878 - Bulk imported CFNA and CFB are not saved in the offline configuration fileSymptom CFNA (Call Forward No Answer) and CFB (Call Forward Busy) values from the bulk import file might not be saved correctly in offline mode. On reopening, the custom-configured CFNA and CFB values can be empty.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsk91600 - FXS VIC configuration deletes the dial-peer configuration for other ports, such as FXOSymptom Cisco Configuration Assistant overwrites user-defined dial-peers in the tag range of 1101 to 1103. If there is a VIC-FXS or VIC-FXS/DID installed in the UC520 VIC slot, Cisco Configuration Assistant reserves the dial-peer tag numbers 1100, 1101, 1102, and 1103 for configuring ports 0/2/0, 0/2/1, 0/2/2, and 0/2/3, respectively.
Workaround
Out-of-band you can configure user-defined dial peer tags from 2500 to 2999.
CSCsk18772 - Strings in Exit dialog and Print Page setup for Russian are not translatedSymptom For the Russian version of Cisco Configuration Assistant, the button labels on the Exit dialog and the field labels on the Page Setup dialog appear in English rather than in Russian; the underlying Java library does not include Russian.
Workaround
There is no workaround. This occurs even when the user language and the user region are correctly configured.
CSCsk70541 - Speed dial does not work if invoked over WAN interface with a firewallSymptom You cannot use speed dial on the WAN interface. A firewall on the WAN interface blocks the TFTP traffic used by the speed dial feature.
Workaround
Manually configure the firewall to allow TFTP traffic between the PC and the device.
CSCsk87779 - The embedded FTP server cannot startSymptom You see a message that an embedded FTP server cannot be started. Although application upgrades might report their success, you might observe the following conditions:
–
A VM language upgrade might fail.
–
A backup or restore function might fail.
–
A Reset to Factory Default option might fail.
–
A CUE image feature might not work correctly after an upgrade.
Workaround
Complete these steps to verify that there is nothing to prevent the FTP server from starting:
1.
Verify that no third-party FTP servers are running on the PC on which you have installed Cisco Configuration Assistant.
2.
Restart the Cisco Configuration Assistant application, and attempt the procedure again.
3.
Verify that FTP and TFTP traffic between the PC and the device is not blocked by a firewall.
CSCsk93297 - Apply time takes too longSymptom On day zero a multiuser configuration might take up to five minutes to apply the Cisco Configuration Assistant parameters to the devices.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl01146 - Cisco Configuration Assistant interface can still be manipulated with the hour glass cursor displayedSymptom While Cisco Configuration Assistant is loading configuration information, the wait icon (typically an hour glass) cursor displays. However, it is still possible to manipulate the interface. (It is not possible to make changes to the configuration.)
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl01400 - Cisco Configuration Assistant should read in all default ephone-dnSymptom Cisco Configuration Assistant might not display all the default ephone-dn extension not yet in use by any phone in the Share and Overlay menus.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl04378 - FTP connectivity should be verified before deleting an IOS imageSymptom When upgrading the IOS image on a UC520, Cisco Configuration Assistant automatically deletes the old IOS image if there is not enough free space. However, Cisco Configuration Assistant does not verify TFTP or FTP connectivity between the PC running Cisco Configuration Assistant and the UC520. If there is an FTP or TFTP connectivity issue between the PC and the UC520 and the new image cannot be copied, the UC520 will be without a valid IOS image.
Workaround
Verify that full connectivity is established between the PC and the UC520 before performing the upgrade.
CSCsl09425 - Cisco Configuration Assistant should validate extension lengthsSymptom Not all extensions associated with a user are validated against the configured length limit. When a user is assigned multiple phone extensions, only the primary extension number is validated against the system extension length that you configured by using Cisco Configuration Assistant. The lengths of any other extensions are not validated.
Workaround
Manually correct the extensions that are in error.
CSCsl14293 - Include a string to indicate the configuration is performed by Cisco Configuration AssistantSymptom There is nothing to discourage out-of-band modification by showing which dial peers have been modified by Cisco Configuration Assistant. When a dial peer is configured by Cisco Configuration Assistant, a string should be added to the configuration to show that the parameters are managed by Cisco Configuration Assistant, as opposed to having been configured out-of-band. The string is not added.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl14487 - SIP phone loads are sent to the device every time a parameter is modifiedSymptom Phone loads for SIP phones are being re-sent to the device every time a change is made to the device configuration.
Workaround
After the phone has been initially loaded, you can prevent the additional (unnecessary) phone loads by removing the phone load file from the local directory ($CCA_HOME\appdata\phoneloads). The unnecessary phone loads do not affect functionality. The activity slightly degrades performance because the Voice task must wait (a few seconds) for the TFTP phone load transfer to be completed before it can apply the configuration changes.
CSCsl22571 - SIP trunk error message should request mandatory fieldsSymptom If you do not enter values for the mandatory SIP trunk fields, Cisco Configuration Assistant displays the message "please correct errors marked in red." The message should be "Fields marked in red are mandatory."
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl23427 - In keysystem mode, no outgoing call translation profile is configuredSymptom In keysystem mode, Cisco Configuration Assistant does not configure outgoing call translation profiles.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl35444 - No way to reconnect once the authentication dialog is cancelledSymptom During the connectivity check, an authentication pop-up is displayed. If the you cancel this dialog, a failure message is displayed. You are given the option to click Previous and restart the connectivity check. However, the authentication pop-up is not displayed and connection fails. Cisco Configuration Assistant does not notify you of the failure.
Workaround
Restart the configuration process:
1.
Shut down and restart Cisco Configuration Assistant.
2.
Launch the Device Setup Wizard.
3.
When it is displayed, do not cancel the authentication pop-up. Enter the valid credentials and complete the process of configuring the device.
CSCsl3845 - Intermittently, the Configure button is green when no DID is configuredSymptom If you make changes on a Direct Inward Dialing (DID) window to configure a device, close the DID window, reopen the DID window, and delete the changes, there is no change to the configuration, but Apply is enabled.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl65972 - SIP Trunk service provider drop down menu should not include AT&T and CbeyondSymptom Outgoing Dial Plan is not compatible with the SIP Trunk Service Provider selected.
•
The Outgoing Numbering Plan Locale selected on the Dial Plan tab in the Voice window is not North American.
•
AT&T and Cbeyond Communications and several other North American SIP trunk providers can still be selected from the SIP Trunk Providers list on the SIP Trunk tab.
This is a usability issue; it does not impact functionality.
Workaround
Always select the North American for the Number Plan Locale when configuring SIP Trunk Providers AT&T, Cbeyond Communications, or any other North American SIP Trunk Provider. Generally, Service Providers are associated with specific locales. Make sure that the SIP Trunk Service Provider selected is compatible with the Number Plan Locale selected.
CSCsl76932 - A conference directory number is used or deletedSymptom If you created an ephone-dn for ad-hoc conferencing using the CLI, a conference number configured for ad-hoc conferencing out-of-band might be used, or it might be deleted by Cisco Configuration Assistant.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl76957 - OOB issues for ephoneSymptom Cisco Configuration Assistant might reset out-of-band video and username configuration parameters, and this might cause the CME and CUE configurations to be mismatched.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl78177 - Out-of-band voice park slot configurations are overwrittenSymptom Park slot configuration parameters that are not recognized by Cisco Configuration Assistant are removed by Cisco Configuration Assistant.
Workaround

Symptom Park slot MWi configuration parameters that are not understood by Cisco Configuration Assistant are removed by Cisco Configuration Assistant.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl78188 - Out-of-band voice paging configuration is overwrittenSymptom Paging configuration commands that are not understood by Cisco Configuration Assistant are removed by Cisco Configuration Assistant.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl78190 - Out-of-band voice username parameters are overwrittenSymptom Username configuration commands that are not understood by Cisco Configuration Assistant are removed by Cisco Configuration Assistant.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl90206 - Cisco Configuration Assistant must be SKU Aware for configuring Ad-Hoc ConferenceSymptom Cisco Configuration Assistant provisioning of ad-hoc conferencing does not detect the type of device, so it does not correctly reflect the number of conference sessions.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl90562 - Premature validation confirming user passwordSymptom If you use Cisco Configuration Assistant to create a user account from the Security/VPN Server window, Cisco Configuration Assistant might incorrectly show a username and password validation. After you enter a username and a password and move the cursor to the Confirm Password field, Cisco Configuration Assistant might incorrectly show a validation message.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsl78865 - Adding a rule to a voice translation rule is overwrittenSymptom A rule that is manually added to voice translation rule and with tag 1111 is overwritten after a DID configuration is created.
Workaround
Always use the Cisco Configuration Assistant GUI to configure caller-ID translations.
CSCsm17687 - Active conferences dropped and ad-hoc hardware configuration delete fails on configuration of AT&T SIP TrunksSymptom Active ad-hoc conferencing might be terminated while configuring other features, such as AT&T SIP Trunk. Also, the hardware-based ad-hoc conferencing configuration might not be deleted after switching to software conferencing (3 or fewer participants).
Workaround
We recommend that you verify that no active conferencing calls are present before modifying the device configuration by using Cisco Configuration Assistant. If this recommendation is not followed and the hardware-based ad-hoc conferencing configuration is not deleted after switching to software conferencing, save the configuration on the device and reload, then switch to software based conferencing in Cisco Configuration Assistant.
CSCsm20316 - Intermittent error message when creating SSID on WLANSymptom When creating an SSID from the WLAN Users window, this error might appear: Failed to execute the command /screens/ /base/interface_list.html. Remote host closed connection during handshake. This happens intermittently when creating an SSID in the WLAN User window and when a VLAN is created as part of an SSID configuration.
Workaround
In most cases, the SSID is created. If the SSID is not created, configure the SSID again.
CSCsm20829 - Extension uniqueness for FXS stationsSymptom An analog phone connected to the VIC FXS port does not ring. In a UC520 with a VIC-FXS or VIC-FXS/DID interface installed, Cisco Configuration Assistant does not validate the extension uniqueness between the number assigned to the VIC-FXS port and to the secondary button of an IP phone. As a result, an IP phone and an analog phone can be assigned the same number. The analog phone will never ring.
Workaround
Verify that the analog phone extension is unique and that it is not used at the IP phone secondary button assignment.
CSCsm31494 - Deleting or modifying users with a mailboxSymptom When deleting or modifying users in the User tab, extensions are removed unnecessarily.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsm44521 - Configuration is not saved before back up of a WLC is startedSymptom Cisco Configuration Assistant does not prompt you to save the device configuration before performing a backup of the WLC configuration when you modify the configuration of a wireless controller.
Workaround
There are two workarounds:
Manually save the configuration to a file before backing up the configuration:
1.
Click Save Configuration in the toolbar.
2.
Select the WLC from the Hostname menu.
3.
Click Save.
4.
Select Maintenance > Configuration Archive.
5.
Select the WLC from the Hostname menu.
6.
Click Back Up.
Set your preferences to always save the configuration before backing up the device configuration:
1.
Click Preferences in the toolbar.
2.
Select the Configuration Archive tab.
3.
Check Save the configuration on the device before backup. This setting will apply to all the devices in the community.
4.
Select Maintenance > Configuration Archive.
5.
Select the WLC from the Hostname menu.
6.
Click Back Up.
CSCsm55848 - Support for background image files for IP phonesSymptom When a software upgrade is launched from the Maintenance menu, the background images and ring tones in the tarball might not be configured.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsm74684 - Registered 7921 iwireless IP phones are not shown in the topology view.Symptom A registered wireless 7921G IP phone with an IP address of 10.1.1.12 (the same subnet as a UC520) is not shown on the topology view. Note that when the wireless phone is registered, it is displayed in the topology view; however, when Cisco Configuration Assistant is relaunched, the 7921G phone does not display. Also, all other non wireless IP phones are displayed in topology view.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCsm96179 - Reset phones or allow a user to reset the phones for phoneload upgradesSymptom This problem might occur under the following conditions:
•
From the Maintenance->Software Upgrade screen, upgrade by using UC500 package file (ZIP). Select 'No' at the prompt to restart the device and complete the upgrade.
•
After placing new phone loads in the appdata/phoneloads directory, trigger an automatic phone load update by applying the Voice window without localization changes (System->Local Settings->Region and/or Phone Lanaguage).
Workaround
Apply one of the following workarounds:
•
Restart/reboot the device. Go to Maintenace->Restart/Reset, select the device and OK or Apply.
•
Telnet to the device and enter at the configuration prompt:
For SCCP phones:
(config)#telephony-service(config-telephony)#reset allFor SIP phones:
(config#voice register global(config-register-global)#reset
Note
If phone load upgrade is part of Voice localization task (change to either Region and or Phone Lanaguage), the reset commands are automatically issued.
CSCsm96235 - The time zone change message is not intuitive and it is sometimes misleadingSymptom A warning message, "CUE reload need at least 5 minutes, do you want to proceed with reload?" displays when time zone changes are made. No time zone changes are made to the CME if you skip the message.
Workaround
Do not cancel the message if you intend to change the time zone.
CSCso18973 - Phoneload localization is not easy to understandSymptom There is no message displayed that indicates what phoneload files are needed.
Workaround
There is no workaround.
CSCso21191 - Software/phoneload upgrade TFTP will time out if there are multiple network connectionsSymptom TFTP transmission fails when multiple network connections are enabled on PC.
Workaround
Maintain only one network connection.
CSCso23673 - All default DNs should be updated to system extension lengthSymptom After the system extension length has been changed to a length other than three digits, new phone connections to a UC520 are assigned a 3-digit extension.
Workaround
Define the extension by using the Voice > Users tab.
CSCso26948 - Overlay is sometimes not configured for certain configuration flowSymptom Configuring the Overlay phone button might cause a stack overflow.
Workaround
Before configuring the Overlay button, click Apply to push the current configuration to the device.

CSCsm37530 - Cisco Configuration Assistant can configure only one many-to-one for non-enbloc signalsYou can create more than one many-to-one mappings (in the Direct-Inward-Dial dialog) and associate them to the same non-Enbloc voice port. Non-Enbloc voice ports are ports whose signaling type does not allow for dialed digits to be present as part of the call setup message. Ports with the following signaling types can be classified as non-Enbloc ports:
•
FXS/DID ports operating in DID mode
•
T1/E1 CAS ports with the following signaling types:
–
E&M immediate-start
–
E&M wink-start
–
E&M delay-start
–
FXO
–
FXS
The range of PSTN numbers cannot exceed 10 numbers. The PSTN number range also cannot span across 10s. For example, 4081112220 to 4081112229 is a valid range. 4081112225 to 4081112234 is not a valid range for many-to-one dial plans on non-Enbloc ports.

When you click OK and relaunch the sub-dialog, the green borders (indicating changes exist) remain. This allows you to view the active change set for these dial plans across multiple launches of the sub-dialogs, including being able to view the original values by selecting any cells with green borders. The configuration changes are sent to the device when you click Apply on the main Voice > Dial Plan window.
If you click Cancel, all changes made since the last Voice window launch, refresh, or Apply are lost. This it is not consistent with other sub-dialogs within the Cisco Configuration Assistant.
For example:
1.

2.
Select Custom FXO dial plan, and click Configure.
3.
Create or edit a Custom FXO dial plan.
4.
Click OK. The dialog box closes.
