This appendix provides brief notes about how the installation changes the .rhosts file of the Cisco user.
The installation procedure sets up access privileges for the gateway and the units. These privileges are defined in the .rhosts file of the root account in each machine. These files must remain intact.
The current configuration for Sheer users in all machines is + + which implies any user from any machine. If the user's security policy prohibits such indiscriminate behavior, then remote access is required between the gateway and all its units in both directions.
If any changes are made to the .rhosts files in the machine, you should verify that access is enabled for the Sheer user from the unit to the gateway and vice-versa, using rlogin or a similar software.
