SBC High-Availability Commands on Cisco IOS XR Software


This module describes the high-availability commands used to configure and monitor the Session Border Controller (SBC).

For detailed information about SBC concepts, configuration tasks, and examples, refer to Cisco IOS XR Session Border Controller Configuration Guide.

hw-module service sbc location

To configure the SBC service as the role of the node, use the hw-module service sbc location command in global configuration mode. To tear down and stop running the SBC process on the service card, use the no form of this command.

hw-module service sbc location {service-card location}

Syntax Description

service-card location

service-card location argument as entered in the rack/slot/module notation.

Usage Guidelines

To use this command, you must be in a user group associated with a task group that includes the proper task IDs. For detailed information about user groups and task IDs, see the Configuring AAA Services on Cisco IOS XR Software module of the Cisco IOS XR System Security Configuration Guide.

If a configuration is loaded on top of an active configuration, warnings are generated to notify that the configuration cannot be modified. If you must modify the entire configuration by loading a new one, please remove the existing configuration first.

Examples

The following example shows how to assign 0/1/CPU0 as the SBC service:

RP/0/0/CPU0:router# configure
RP/0/0/CPU0:router(config)# hw-module service sbc location 0/1/CPU0

service-location preferred-active (SBC)

To enable a service card to run the SBC function as a primary, use the service-location preferred-active command in SBC configuration mode. To disable the configured SBC so that it is not running on any service card, use the no form of this command.

service-location preferred-active {node-id} [preferred standby node-id]

Syntax Description

node-id

Preferred active location of the SBC. The node-id argument as entered in the rack/slot/module notation.

preferred standby node-id

Enables a service card to run SBC function as a primary, and optionally, secondary location.

Note The preferred-standby keyword is not applicable on the Cisco CRS-1 router.

To display information related to all services, use the show service redundancy command in EXEC mode.
