Error Message
%FABRIC_INTERFACE_ASIC-GSR-3-ERR_MEM_ALLOC
Memory allocation failed for internal
data storage
Explanation Memory was not available for an internal data structure. The requested operation could
not be accomplished because of a low memory condition. The LC will not boot up successfully and
will not be able to participate in data forwarding.
Recommended Action Reload the LC using 'hw-module' command. If the problem recurs, reduce
other system activity to ease memory demands. If conditions warrant, upgrade to a larger memory
configuration. Also ensure the LC is populated with the minimum amount of memory required for
proper operation.
Error Message
%FABRIC_INTERFACE_ASIC-GSR-3-ERR_THREAD_CREATE
Internal OS call to create
additional threads failed, [chars]
Explanation An internal OS library returned an error. The system will usually recover from this error
automatically. If the frequency of this alert increases noticeably it could indicate a OS kernel
problem on the card. The LC will not boot up successfully and will not be able to participate in data
forwarding. This condition can impact various processes on the LC. The LC is in unstable condition.
Recommended Action The system will normally recover from this error without intervention. If the
frequency with which this error is occurring increases substantially, call your Cisco technical
support representative and provide the gathered information. Copy the error message exactly as it
appears on the console or in the system log, call your Cisco technical support representative and
provide the representative with the gathered information.
Error Message
%FABRIC_INTERFACE_ASIC-GSR-3-FIA_CHKPT
Call to checkpoint library failed,
status=[chars]
Explanation An internal support library returned an error. The driver was not able to save data for
restart ability. A restart of the FIAD process may not be NSF compliant. Any software upgrade
requiring FIAD to be restarted will result in traffic loss. The system will usually recover from this
error automatically. If the frequency of this alert increases noticeably it could indicate a OS kernel
problem on the card.
Error Message
%FABRIC_INTERFACE_ASIC-GSR-3-FIA_CHKPT_DATA_EXISTS
The driver is coming up in
normal mode, but checkpoint information already exists.
Explanation When a driver comes up in NORMAL_MODE, checkpointing data should not already
exist. This indicates a mismatch in the driver state. The checkpointed data may be corrupted on the
LC. Restart ability of processes may be affected.
Error Message
%FABRIC_INTERFACE_ASIC-GSR-3-FIA_CHKPT_RECOVERY_NODATA
The driver is coming up
in restart mode, but the checkpoint info does not exist.
Explanation When a driver comes up in RECOVERY_MODE, checkpointing data should have
already been saved to the checkpointing record by the previous life of the driver. This can impact
the drivers ability to restart without affecting traffic.
Recommended Action The system may not recover from this error automatically. A reload of the
linecard should be initiated in order to recover. Copy the error message exactly as it appears on the
console or in the system log, call your Cisco technical support representative and provide the
representative with the gathered information.
Error Message
%FABRIC_INTERFACE_ASIC-GSR-3-FIA_DLOPEN
Failed to load [chars]
Explanation The library (dll) named could not be found or there was an error while loading. Indicates
a software installation problem. The LC will not boot up successfully and will not be able to
participate in data forwarding.
Recommended Action Copy the error message exactly as it appears on the console or in the system
log, call your Cisco technical support representative and provide the representative with the
gathered information.
Error Message
%FABRIC_INTERFACE_ASIC-GSR-3-FIA_INT_ATTACH
Internal OS call to process
interrupts failed
Explanation An internal OS library returned an error. Some error conditions on the LC may not be
reported correctly. The system will usually recover from this error automatically. If the frequency
of this alert increases noticeably it could indicate a OS kernel problem on the card.
Recommended Action The system will normally recover from this error without intervention. This
error indiactes a more fundamental issue on the LC. If the frequency with which this error is
occurring increases substantially, call your Cisco technical support representative and provide the
gathered information. Copy the error message exactly as it appears on the console or in the system
log, call your Cisco technical support representative and provide the representative with the
gathered information.
Error Message
%FABRIC_INTERFACE_ASIC-GSR-3-FS_ERR1
[chars] : [hex]
Explanation EE192 SerDes retimer driver error. An internal OS library returned an error. The system
will usually recover from this error automatically. If the frequency of this alert increases noticeably
it could indicate a OS kernel problem on the card. The LC will not boot up successfully and will not
be able to participate in data forwarding. This condition can impact various processes on the LC.
The LC is in unstable condition.
Recommended Action The system will normally recover from this error without intervention. This
error indiactes a more fundamental issue on the LC. If the frequency with which this error is
occurring increases substantially, call your Cisco technical support representative and provide the
gathered information.
Error Message
%FABRIC_INTERFACE_ASIC-GSR-4-ERR_SYSDB_SET
system database item set failed
[chars]
Explanation Error in communication channel with the system database. There was a problem
accessing the named item. This could be a temporary problem caused by an outage in the connection
to the server. The connection will be restored, but the operation itself was aborted.
Recommended Action Call your Cisco technical support representative and provide the gathered
information. Copy the output of the following commands exactly as they appear. show processes
fiad location X/X/X
Error Message
%FABRIC_INTERFACE_ASIC-GSR-4-FIA_EDM
system database access failed [chars]
Explanation Error in communication channel with clients. There was a problem accessing the system
database item. This could be a temporary problem caused by an outage in the connection to the
server. The connection will be restored, but the operation itself was aborted.
Recommended Action Call your Cisco technical support representative and provide the gathered
information. Copy the output of the following commands exactly as they appear. show processes
fiad location X/X/X
Error Message
%FABRIC_INTERFACE_ASIC-GSR-6-FIA_INFO_MSG
[chars]
Explanation This is a Informational message in the FIA Driver to indicate an operation.
Recommended Action No action is required.
Error Message
%FABRIC_INTERFACE_ASIC-GSR-7-FIA_FCTL
[chars] failed, slot = [dec], error info =
[chars]
Explanation An interprocess call returned an error. Possibly a timeout. The central switch fabric
software may not recognize the LC that exhibits this error. Maintenance bus may not be operating
as desired.
Recommended Action Look for other fctl messages. Wait for corrective action. The system will
normally recover from this error without intervention. If the frequency with which this error is
occurring increases substantially, call your Cisco technical support representative and provide the
gathered information. Copy the output of the following commands exactly as they appear. show
processes fctl show processes fiad location X/X/X show diag X/X/X show diag chassis-info
