These release notes describe the new features and significant software components for Cisco IOS Release 12.0(1)XA for Cisco 1700 series routers.

The following new features in Cisco IOS Release 12.0(1)XA are available for the Cisco 1700 series. Release 12.0(1)XA also supports the features in Cisco IOS Release 12.0(1)T, which are described in the Release Notes for Cisco IOS Release 12.0 T. Support for Cisco 1720
This is the first Cisco IOS release to include support for the Cisco 1720.
Triple DES Encryption
IPSec supports the Triple DES encryption algorithm (168-bit) in addition to 56-bit encryption. Triple DES (3DES) is a strong form of encryption that allows sensitive information to be transmitted over untrusted networks. It enables customers, particularly in the finance industry, to utilize network layer encryption.
Open Caveats—Release 12.0(1)XA
This section describes possibly unexpected behavior by Release 12.0(1)XA. This section describes only severity 1 and 2 caveats.

Dialer Interface

If a crypto map is applied to a dialer interface, dialer pools are used, and a dialup interface (e.g., BRI) is used as the physical interface, when that dialup interface is unbound from the dialer it may cause a system reload or mis-alignments. A workaround is to not use dialer pools.

Cisco Connection Online (CCO) is Cisco Systems' primary, real-time support channel. Maintenance customers and partners can self-register on CCO to obtain additional information and services.
Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, CCO provides a wealth of standard and value-added services to Cisco's customers and business partners.
