This appendix presents the material in the form of a table, provides ASCII character names and meanings, and clarifies what you enter from the keyboard.

Some commands described in this publication, such as the escape-character line configuration command in the "Terminal Line and Modem Support Commands" chapter require that you enter the decimal representation of an ASCII character.

provides code translations from ASCII characters to the decimal numbers. For example, the ASCII carriage return (CR) is decimal 13. This means that pressing Ctrl-M at your terminal generates decimal 13, which is interpreted as a CR.
