Cisco IPICS PMC
Tips for Using the PMC
The following tips will help you to use the Cisco Push-to-Talk Management Center (PMC) most effectively:
•
Open only one instance of the PMC on a given PC at a time.
•
The dispatcher assigns the voice channels that you can use on the PMC and also creates, activates, and deactivates the channels that support the VTGs.
•
The PMC retrieves its personalized list of channels from the Cisco IPICS server.
•
When a channel is activated, you will see the PTT button highlight on the PMC. (If your ability to transmit on a channel has been disabled by the server, the PTT button will not highlight.)
•
Before you start, check the placement and settings of your microphone.
•
To talk on a channel, click and hold the PTT button before you speak.
•
You can simultaneously listen in and talk on multiple voice channels that are activated.
•
Talk in short bursts and monitor the receive and transmit indicators to make sure that you are not talking over other Cisco IPICS users.
Identifying the Buttons on the PMC
The PMC GUI includes the PTT channel button, and buttons to activate the channel and control the volume level. It also includes indicators that blink when you receive and transmit traffic.
Figure 1 shows an illustration of the PMC with the 4-channel mouse skin.
