This module describes how to get started with the APA Device Console

Starting the APA Device Console

This section describes how to start the APA Device Console


Step 1 Double-click the APADC shortcut icon that is located on the Desktop.

The page http://localhost:8080/login.jsp is opened in a web browser displaying the login screen.

Step 2 Login with the following username and password:

Username: root

Password: cisco

Step 3 Click Login.

The Create IT Manager User screen appears.

Step 4 In the Username field, enter the username for the IT manager user.

Step 5 In the Password field, enter the password for the IT manager user.

Step 6 In the Confirm Password field, re-enter the password for the IT manager user.

Step 7 Click Create.

The login screen reappears.

Step 8 Type in the username and password for the IT manager user created in Steps 4 to 6.

The APA Device Console appears.


Adding a Device User


Step 1 In the Navigation pane, select Device Management > Configuration.

The Device Configuration screen appears in the Configuration pane open to the Basic tab.

Step 2 Click the Security tab.

The Security configuration screen appears in the Configuration pane, displaying the Device Users box in the lower section.

Step 3 Click Add.

The Add Device User box appears in the upper section of the Configuration pane.

Step 4 In the Name field, enter the User's user name.

Step 5 In the Password field, enter the User's password.

Step 6 In the Confirm Password field, re-enter the User's password.

Step 7 From the Access Level drop-down list, choose the User's access level.

Step 8 Click OK.

The new User is saved in the configuration.


Adding Device Credentials for an Administrative User


Step 1 In the Navigation pane, select Admin > Admin User Management.

The Admin User Management screen appears in the Configuration pane.

Administrative user accounts are listed with along with their devices.

Step 2 Click the radio button next to the IT manager user.

Step 3 Click Edit.

The APA Device Console User box appears in the Configuration pane.


Note At this point, you may also edit the user's details.


Step 4 Click Add New Device.

The Devices box appears in the lower portion of the Configuration pane.

Step 5 In the Device Name field, enter the name of the device to which this user will connect.


Note The device name entered here must match the device name entered when the device is added to the APA Device Console.


Step 6 In the User Name field, enter the user name of the user created in Adding a Device User.

The is the user name with which the IT manager user will login to the device.

Step 7 In the Password field, enter the password of the user name on the device.


Note The password entered here must match the password for the above user name on the NME-APA device.


Step 8 In the Confirm Password field, re-enter the modified password of the user name on the device.

Step 9 From the Access Level drop-down list, choose the access level with which the user will login to the device.


Note This value is not currently used. Choose any valid value.


Step 10 Click OK.

The device credentials are saved in the configuration.

The Admin User Management screen reappears in the Configuration pane.


APADC Log Files

If needed for reference, the APADC log files are located at:

C:\log

C:\APADC\apache-tomcat-5.5.20\logs
