This module describes the installation procedure for installing the Application Performance Assurance Device Console (APADC). It also describes the system requirements and the uninstall procedure for the APADC.

Prerequisites

In order to install the APADC, the following conditions must be met:

•Apache Tomcat is not installed.

•MySQL is not installed.

•Ports 3306 (MySQL) and 8080 (Apache Tomcat) should be available and not taken by other applications.

•Any security or anti-virus software should be disabled during installation.

Hardware and Software Requirements

The hardware and software requirements for the platform running the APADC are listed below:

•Processor—Intel® Pentium® 4, 3.0 GHz

•Hard Drive—80 GB

•RAM—1 GB

•Display—Recommended display with resolution of 1280x1024

•OS—Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 2

Installing the APA Device Console

This section describes how to install the APADC. It also describes the software that is installed as part of the installation procedure.

APA Installation Package

The APA installation package consists of a single executable file located on CCO, which installs the Console and the associated software. The name of the executable is APADC-v<version>.exe.

Software Installed during APA Device Console Installation

The following software is installed during the installation of the APADC:

•Java Runtime Environment—Version 1.5.0.11 of the JRE is installed.

•Apache Tomcat—Version 5.5.20 of the Apache Tomcat web server is installed. This provides the web server software for accessing the APA Device Console.

•MySQL—Version Enterprise-5.0.44-win32 is installed.

•SCA Reporter—Version 3.1.6 of the SCA Reporter is installed to provide the reporting capabilities of the APA Device Console.

The installer creates Windows services for MySQL (Cisco APADC MySQL) and Apache Tomcat (Cisco APADC Tomcat); both services are configured for automatic startup.

Step 1 Navigate to the Console installation file, APADC-v2.0.0.0.exe, and double-click it.

Step 2 Click I Agree.

Step 3 (Optional) Click Browse if a different destination folder is desired.

MySQL is always installed in the default location C:\mysql-enterprise-5.0.44-win32.

Step 4 Click Install.

Step 5 Wait until the installation is complete.

The Close button is enabled.

Step 6 Click Close.

The APA Device Console Setup Wizard closes.

The Console is now installed on the machine and an icon named APADC is placed on the Desktop to allow quick access to the APA Device Console. Please wait one minute for the web server to initialize before attempting to log into APADC.

Uninstalling the APA Device Console

This section describes how to uninstall the APA Device Console.

Step 1 Navigate to the folder where the Console is installed.

Step 2 Double-click the uninstall file, Uninstall.exe.

The Confirm Uninstall screen appears.

Step 3 Click Uninstall.

The Apache Tomcat and MySQL services are stopped and the SCA Reporter 3.1.6 Uninstall dialog box appears.

Step 4 Click Yes.

Step 5 Wait until the SCA Reporter 3.1.6 uninstall completes.

The SCA Reporter 3.1.6 Uninstall Complete dialog appears.

Step 6 Click OK.

Upgrading the APA Device Console

This section describes how to upgrade an APADC 1.0.0.0 installation to version 2.0.0.0.

Caution All existing device, traffic management, and user configurations, as well as all retrieved RDR data and report instances are deleted during the upgrade.

Step 1 Navigate to the Console installation file, APADC-v2.0.0.0.exe, and double-click it.

A confirmation dialog appears.

Step 2 Click OK.

The SCA Reporter 3.1.0 Uninstall dialog appears.

Step 3 Click Yes.

Step 4 Wait until the SCA Reporter uninstall completes.

The SCA Reporter 3.1.0 Uninstall Complete dialog appears.

Step 5 Click OK.

The Excelsior Uninstall: Confirmation dialog appears.

Step 6 Click Uninstall.

Step 7 Wait until the Excelsior uninstall is complete.

The Excelsior Uninstall: Completed dialog appears.

Step 8 Click Close.

The installation of the APADC version 2.0.0 begins and the License Agreement screen of the Setup Wizard opens.

Step 9 Continue from Step 2 of the installation procedure described inInstalling the APA Device Console.
