Introduction

This appendix explains how to use the Program Manager Migration Tool to transfer programs and configurations from IP/TV Content Manager Version 3.5 running on a Windows platform to IP/TV Program Manager Release 5.1 on an ACNS hardware platform.

This utility preserves IP/TV Content Manager configuration files and program information when you upgrade to IP/TV Program Manager running on ACNS hardware.

Note IP/TV Program Manager Release 5.1 is a Linux-based application running on Cisco Content Engine hardware.

Transferring Programs and Configuration

IP/TV Content Manager configuration and program information is stored in files with databases residing in various folders. The Program Manager Migration Tool generates a single zipped file containing all the relevant files. You can then transfer the zipped file over the network and automatically import it to the device running IP/TV Program Manager Release 5.1.

Note The Program Manager Migration Tool supports transfer of configuration and program information only from a device running IP/TV Content Manager Version 3.5 to a device running IP/TV Program Manager Release 5.1. If IP/TV Content Manager Version 3.5 is not installed on the source device, the Program Manager Migration Tool displays an error message and exits.

To transfer programs and configuration, follow these steps:

Step 1 Copy the CM2PM Upgrade Tool folder from the IP/TV installation CD to your existing IP/TV Content Manager Version 3.5 hardware.

Step 2 Run the setup.exe file from the CM2PM Upgrade Tool folder.

The Install Welcome dialog box appears.

Step 3 Follow the instructions on the screen.

The Program Manager Migration Tool compresses all the relevant files to a single zipped file at CM_Installed_Folder\Apache\public_html\iptvfiles\CM2PM Upgrade.zip.

Step 4 Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator and enter the following address in the address bar of the browser window: http://myprogrammanagerhost/migrate

where myprogrammanagerhost is the IP address or DNS name for your IP/TV Program Manager device.

The IP/TV Content Manager Version 3.5 to IP/TV Program Manager Release 5.1 Migration screen appears.

Step 5 Enter the host name or IP address of the IP/TV Content Manager Version 3.5 device from which you want to migrate the data.

Step 6 Click Begin Migration.

IP/TV Program Manager returns the following warning:

Data migration will overwrite any current configuration on this 
Program Manager.  Click OK to proceed or Cancel to abort.

Step 7 Click OK.

The Program Manager Migration Tool downloads the zipped file and imports the configuration and program information to the IP/TV Program Manager Release 5.1 device. The Program Manager Migration Tool notifies you when the process has been successfully completed. If the import process fails, the Program Manager Migration Tool generates an error message and exits.
