Content Manager Migration Tool

Introduction

This appendix explains how to use the Content Manager Migration Tool in IP/TV Version 3.5 to transfer programs and configurations from IP/TV Content Manager on an existing hardware platform to IP/TV Content Manager on a new hardware platform.

This utility preserves IP/TV Content Manager configuration files and existing program information when you upgrade to new hardware.

Transferring Programs and Configuration

IP/TV Content Manager configuration and program information is stored in files with different extensions residing in various folders. The Content Manager Migration Tool generates a single zipped file containing all the relevant files. You can transfer the zipped file over the network or through a removable medium to the new hardware.

Note IP/TV Content Manager Version 3.5.x must be installed on both the old and the new hardware before you run the Content Manager Migration Tool. If IP/TV Content Manager Version 3.5.x is not installed, the Content Manager Migration Tool displays an error message and exits.

To transfer the IP/TV Content Manager programs and configuration to new hardware, follow these steps:

Step 1 Copy the Migrator folder from the IP/TV installation CD to your existing hardware.

Step 2 Run the setup.exe file from the Migrator folder.

The Install Welcome dialog box appears.

Step 3 Click Next after reading the details.
