概要

Radio Access Network-Optimization(RAN-O; 無線アクセス ネットワーク最適化)は、Global System for Mobile Communications(GSM; モバイル通信用グローバル システム)および Universal Mobile Telecommunications System(UMTS)の各種設定に基づき、さまざまなトポロジ設計をサポートします。これらのトポロジに共通する部分がいくつかあります。

バックホール インターフェイスは、最適化された GSM/UMTS トラフィックを RAN-O デバイス間で転送するために使用されます。従来のバックホール インターフェイスは、1 つのマルチリンク接続を形成するために論理的に結合された 1 つ以上の T1/E1 コントローラから構成されています(T1/E1 リンクのクロッキング用にバックホール インターフェイスを使用する High-Speed Down link Packet Access [HSDPA] を除く)。現在のバージョンの RAN-O 展開には、Fast Ethernet(FE; ファスト イーサネット)や Gigabit Ethernet(GE; ギガビット イーサネット)などのより高速なバックホール インターフェイスが組み込まれています。

ショートホール インターフェイスは、Base Transceiver Station(BTS; 無線基地局)/ノード B から Cisco 3825 ルータへ、さらに Cisco 3825 ルータから Base Station Controller/Radio Network Controller(BSC/RNC)へ GSM および UMTS トラフィックを転送するために使用されます。RAN-O デバイス上の従来のショートホール接続は、Cisco 2 ポート T1/E1-RAN インターフェイス カードを介して接続されています。

3x2 や 4x3 などのトポロジの命名規則は、展開のタイプを説明するために使用されます。最初の数字は GSM/UMTS ショートホール インターフェイス接続の番号を示し、2 番目の数字はマルチリンク バックホール インターフェイス接続の番号を示しています。結合された GSM/UMTS ネットワークの場合は、従来の 3:2x2 を使用できます。ここでの、:2 は UMTS ショートホール インターフェイス接続の番号を示しています。

GSM だけの設定

標準の GSM トポロジには、個別の T1/E1 接続を経由する BTS から RAN-O デバイスへの 1 つ以上のショートホール インターフェイス接続が含まれます。RAN-O デバイスは、MLPPP バックホール接続(2 つ以上の T1/E1 接続)を使用してバックツーバックで接続されます。BSC 側の RAN-O と BSC との間の接続は、BTS と RAN-O との間の接続と同じです。この構成例では、GSM トラフィックだけがトポロジを経由します(図 B-8 を参照)。

IMA を使用しない UMTS だけの設定

従来の UMTS 設定は、UMTS トラフィックだけがトポロジを経由する点を除き、GSM 設定によく似ています。GSM トラフィックと異なり、UMTS トラフィックは ATM PVC を介して RAN-O デバイスに到達します。その後、UMTS トラフィックは従来の MLPPP バックホール接続を介してルーティングされます。RNC 側の RAN-O と RNC との間の接続は、ノード B と RAN-O インターフェイスとの間の接続と同じです。ATM 接続が必要な点を除き、UMTS の物理的接続は GSM トポロジと同じです(図 B-9 を参照)。
