DLSw は、IP ネットワーク上で IBM のシステムネットワークアーキテクチャ（SNA）とネットワーク BIOS（NetBIOS）のトラフィックを転送する技術です。シスコで実装している DLSw over Fast Sequence Transport（FST）では、IP プロトコル 91 を使用します。DLSw の promiscuous 機能は、ローカルピアがスタティックに設定されていないリモートピアとの接続の確立を許可します。

DLSw が設定された Cisco IOS デバイスは、IP プロトコル 91 のパケットをリスニングします。DLSw の設定によっては、UDP ポート 2067 と複数の TCP ポートが開いている可能性もあります。このドキュメントに記載されている脆弱性は、IP プロトコル 91 を使用した場合にのみ不正利用されます。UDP または TCP では不正利用されません。

コントロールプレーンポリシング（CoPP）を使用すると、該当するデバイスに宛てられた信頼できない IP プロトコル 91 のパケットをブロックできます。CoPP 機能は、Cisco IOS ソフトウェアリリース 12.0S、12.2SX、12.2S、12.3T、12.4、および 12.4T にてサポートされています。管理およびコントロールプレーンを保護するために CoPP をデバイスに設定し、既存のセキュリティポリシーとコンフィギュレーションに従って認定されたトラフィックだけがインフラストラクチャデバイス宛に送信されることを明示的に許可するよう設定した場合は、レート制限することで、インフラストラクチャへの直接攻撃のリスクとその効果を最小限に抑えることができます。次の例では、192.168.100.1 が信頼できるホストになります。この例は、ネットワークに実際に適用できます。
