The Citrix XenDesktop on Cisco UCS validated designs guide you through initial workgroup deployment to a full blown production environment. The solution supports the ability to quickly scale your implementation securely and simply in a consistent, deterministic way -- based on a modular reference architecture approach.

Starter and Expansion Kits

In order to simplify the initial and following deployments, several packages are available to help you get started quickly and expand easily with Cisco VXI with Citrix XenDesktop. Add software, storage, endpoints, and your communication services for a complete workspace virtualization solution.

  • Cisco UCS Base Unit for Desktop Virtualization establishes the virtual desktop infrastructure with servers preconfigured to support Citrix management software and an initial virtualization farm provided for 300 to 700 virtualized desktops and applications
  • Cisco UCS Expansion Unit for VDI Users increases capacity to host up to 400 additional virtual machine-based desktops. Each server can support 110 to 120 Microsoft Windows 7 virtual desktops as measured by a knowledge-worker benchmark
  • Cisco UCS Expansion Unit for Hosted Shared Desktops increases capacity to host additional virtualized applications, supporting up to 960 hosted shared desktops. This bundle expands the virtualization farm by adding one Cisco UCS 5108 Blade Server Chassis and up to eight Cisco UCS B200 M2 Blade Servers
  • Cisco UCS Expansion Pack-Distribute Compute Kit: This new VXI Distributed Compute Bundle is designed for smaller deployments from 100-300 desktop users (with the UCS C-series chassis)
