Local or Regional Government organisations have a special responsibility to their citizens to provide a very wide range of services and to enact Central Government laws as they apply to the community. Citizens are further demanding that these services are efficient, coordinated and readily accessible. The challenge is therefore to provide an efficient service which is readily available and which meets the demands of budget constrains. It may seem that these demands are incompatible and improving efficiency and accessability would necessarily increase cost.
This has however been proven to be far from true. Local authorities that understanding the full picture and recognising the needs of their customers, are implementing E-Strategies, which can reconcile the seemingly conflicting demands and demonstrate a step improvement in service quality and cost saving as well as empowering the citizen to be more self sufficient.
