About Win@Cisco

  • What is Win@Cisco?
    It’s an innovation contest which welcomes various kinds of ideas like new business model, new vertical solution, new technology/product, new market chance or process improvement etc.
  • Who can attend Win@Cisco?
    All Cisco regular employees base in China, Hong Kong & Taiwan.
  • How long does the process take?
    The process includes 4 steps: Ideation, Team Formation (Top 5 ideas), Boot Camp & Final Competition. The whole process lasts about 5 months.
  • What is the prize if I win?
    We would like to invite you to help us choosing the most attractive prize when you submit idea to us (there is one choice question about prize when you submit idea online)! How to prize the winning teams will be announced in March base on statistic result.
  • Who can I contact for help?

  • Can I participate to Win@Cisco if I have no idea to submit?
    Yes! You can vote which idea is the best one in your mind when we publish them on website. And the voting participants would have chance to get Lucky Draw gift!
  • What’s the difference between Tech Fund (an innovation initiative sponsored by Cisco Development) and Win@Cisco China?
    Tech Fund is more technology oriented, while Win@CISCO China is more business outcome focused. You can submit the idea to both platforms if it brings the benefits to both technology and business, in fact, attending Win@Cisco China can help you for better preparation of your proposal for Tech Fund as well.

Submit

  • How can I submit my idea?
    You can find “Submit Idea” button on Win@Cisco homepage. More details can be found on webpage.
  • How can I track the progress of my idea?
    In later March, you can receive the notification from Win@Cisco project team to let you know whether your idea have been entered final competition.
  • Can I submit ideas as part of a team?
    Yes. But the team size in final competition would be capped under 5 persons.
  • When can I submit my idea?
    Since Win@Cisco kick off date 26 Jan 2015 to Idea submission deadline 13 Mar 2015.
  • What happens if I don’t meet the submission timeline?
    Any idea submitted after deadline would not be accepted.
  • Any tips to make my idea to obtain more votes?
    1. Provide solution instead of only bring up a challenge or problem; 2. The idea is unique enough & differentiated from our competitors; 3. The idea can resolve GC local challenges & bring revenue return; 4. The idea can push positive cross function collaboration for better business result; 5. The idea has briefing document attached instead of only one sentence description.

  • What is the selecting process for top 5 ideas?
    After idea submission deadline, the judge of panel consisted by cross functional experts would select top 5 ideas among all ideas submitted.
  • What does it mean if my idea has been selected in top 5?
    Your idea team will enter final competition in June. And your idea team will be eligible for Boot Camp trainings to help you fully prepared for final competition. The coach team will also help you to further polish your idea.
  • When will top 5 ideas be determined?
    In later March.
  • How can I know if my idea has been selected into top 5?
    Win@Cisco project team will connect with you.

Team Formation (for Top 5 Ideas)

  • What is the population for one team?
    Usually 4~5 members. The team size will be capped under 5 members.
  • What are the criteria for team members?
    Any Cisco regular employee in Greater China who is passionate in innovation
  • Who can help me if I have challenges to recruit team members?
    You might send your request to win.chin@cisco.com
  • Who should be the team leader if my team is cross functional?
    It could be the idea initiator or anyone elected by the team
  • When the team must be established?
    We recommend the team to be established no later than the end of March, 2015

  • Who can help me to polish my idea for final competition?
    A pool of executive coaches from cross functions will help you per request
  • What result my team should work out before final competition?
    A full-length of business plan for the idea should be developed before the final competition
  • How long can my team prepare for final competition?
    About 2 months (Apr & May)

    Most likely in early June

    Top executives from different functions
  • How long each team can get for presentation in front of final judge panel?
    45 mins plus 15 Q&A
