James Capobianco

Mr. Capobianco is Director of Product Management for Cisco’s Data Center Server, Access and Virtualization business. Products with in this Cisco business line include the Unified Compute System (UCS), Nexus 1000V, Nexus 5000, Nexus 2000 and Blade Switches. James has direct responsibility for the Nexus 5000/2000 product feature definition, roadmap and business development activities. He joined Cisco via its acquisition of the Data Center transformation start up company Nuova systems, which has developed Next Generation Data Center Product Technologies of, Unified Computing, Unified Fabric over Lossless Ethernet, FCoE, Virtualization and Data Center Ethernet.

Mr. Capobianco has 20 years experience in networking industry, originally starting his career in design engineering and progressing up to more senior roles in technology and product management. He has been involved in numerous, highly successful, large-scale networking systems for both enterprise and service provider market segments. He has expertise in the technology domains of Data Center Server Access Switching, Virtualization, Voice over Packet, multiservice WAN switching, WAN routing and broadband access.

Prior to his role at Cisco/Nuova, James was Sr. Director of Product Line Management for Juniper Networks Multi-Service Edge business, the company’s largest revenue product line, accounting for over nearly 40% the company’s annual revenue. His responsibilities included life cycle management of the mid-range business, and directing new product plans for the multi-service edge and carrier Ethernet markets.

James has also held senior positions at Redback Networks (acquired by Ericsson) and Stratacom (acquired by Cisco).
