Cisco views Internet and education as one of the great equalizers of the next century. The lack of Internet-supported education, and a shortage of workers that are well-trained in computer networking, pose global dilemmas.
For instance, the Cisco Networking Academy is currently addressing the deficit of computer networking professionals in India. The country was in need of 118,000 more computer networking professionals in 2008, with the number expected to grow to 137,200 in 2009, according to an IDC India study. India can improve its economic development by embracing information technology and committing to match technological advancement with an investment in its people.
Since its launch in India in 2000, the Cisco computer networking training program has grown to nearly 200 academies throughout the country, making an impact on thousands of lives. With its special computer networking programs that bring education to all, despite rural and gender obstacles, the Cisco Networking Academy is creating a common understanding based on new connections - that’s the human network effect.
