Cisco Aironet Series 1500 Access Point LED Indicator Installation Instructions

Last Revised: August 22, 2008

The LED indicator verifies that power is on for AC-powered Cisco Aironet 1505 and 1510 access points.

Install it as necessary to verify that power is up. The LED indicator attaches to the Power over Ethernet (PoE) connector of the 1505 and 1510 access points.

Note Units with a serial number of WCN10160121 or greater support use of the LED indicator.

Safety Precautions

Caution Detach the LED indicator from the access point after you verify power.

Warning Only trained and qualified personnel should be allowed to install, replace, and service this equipment. Statement 1030.

General Notes

NoteDo not install the LED indicator if the access point has an Ethernet connection to the network.

As an alternative, you can either verify power on the access point using the power injector LED, if in use, or verify that the access point and the controller are communicating by examining the log file.

Installation Instructions

Follow these steps to attach the LED indicator to the 1505 and 1510 access points.

Step 1 Unscrew the protective connector cover on the PoE 12-pin connector, if applicable (see Figure 1 and Figure 2).

Step 2 Attach the LED indicator to the PoE connector by turning it clockwise until its connectors align with the PoE connector.

Step 3 Push on the LED indicator while turning the nut to the right to lock it. The main part of the LED indicator does not turn.

Step 4 Look at the LED indicator to see if the green LED is lit indicating that power is on.

If power is on, you can remove the LED indicator.

Step 5 Turn the LED indicator counter clockwise to detach it from the PoE connector. Store the LED indicator for future use. No storage area is available for the LED indicator on the access point.

Step 6 Replace the cover on the PoE connector.
