This module lists supported migrations, based on your existing Cisco Unified MeetingPlace version, and your desired Release 8.6 deployment.

Migration Matrix

If you have an existing Cisco Unified MeetingPlace system, then you may be able to migrate your system to Release 8.6, as long as there is a supported path between your existing system and Release 8.6. The tables in this section list the supported migration procedures, based on your existing deployment and desired Release 8.6 deployment.


Note Cisco has tested and verified the supported migration procedures included in this Installation, Upgrade, and Migration Guide. However, if your current system has extensive customizations or integrations, we recommend you contact Cisco Advanced Services for further guidance. Note If you are on a Release 6.1 or Release 7.1 system, and have Adobe Connect (Adobe Breeze) meetings, then only audio and video recordings are migrated. We recommend you keep your legacy Cisco Unified MeetingPlace system intact (to access legacy Web recordings and attachments), and install a new Release 8.6 system.


Two Types of Migration Procedures

Migration Considerations

Two Types of Migration Procedures

There are two types of migration procedures:

Migration script backup and restoration of your existing data. The summary steps are:

1. Run the special migration script to back up data on your existing Cisco Unified MeetingPlace system.

2. Build new 8.6 Application Server.

3. Run the special migration script to restore data on your Release 8.6 Application Server.

4. Install other Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.6 components as required for your deployment.

Import of existing user profiles into Cisco WebEx. The summary steps are:

1. Export your existing user and group profiles and run them through a special conversion script, MPtoWebExCSV Converter, which creates a .CSV file.

2. Obtain a new Cisco WebEx site and import profiles (by using the .CSV file) into Cisco WebEx. You now have Webex-driven User Management/

3. Install a new Release 8.6 Application Server.

4. When each user logs in to the Cisco WebEx site, a new, corresponding profile is created in Cisco Unified MeetingPlace for this user.

Go to the table for your existing deployment, find the Release 8.6 deployment you want, and follow the procedure listed in the corresponding table cell:

Migration Considerations

Customers who migrate from a system with MeetingPlace-driven User Management to Webex-driven User Management have the following limitations:

User profiles with UK or Australian English language settings are mapped to US English language settings, when imported into Cisco WebEx. These users will hear US English audio prompts.

User profiles with French Canadian language settings are mapped to French (France) language settings. These users will hear French (France) audio prompts.


Note If you have an existing failover deployment, the migration script and process to restore data must be completed before failover is configured and enabled in Release 8.6. Configuring and enabling failover before running the migration script can cause database issues, requiring a reinstallation of the Release 8.6 server.

Note If you migrate to an unsupported deployment, the migration process may appear to be successful and the deployment type may appear to be correct, but that system will not be functional properly. Therefore, make sure you choose the correct deployment during the installation and migrate process.
