Release 8.5
Revised: 1/30/12

This is step 4 of the installation and configuration process. See the Quick Start for Installing and Configuring Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5 module for information about the order in which to install and configure the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5 components.

Cisco Unified MeetingPlace supports a Segmented Meeting Access (SMA-2S) configuration that allows you to provide external access to your users while maintaining network security.

Note In Release 8.5, a SMA-2S configuration is only supported for customers with existing MeetingPlace/WebEx deployments with MeetingPlace scheduling, that are migrating from Release 7.x or 8.0 to Release 8.5. (For a complete list of supported migrations to Release 8.5, see the Migration Overview module.)

Additional Information

If you do not already have a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace system with a SMA-2S configuration, then read more about it.

Read the Planning Guide for your existing Cisco Unified MeetingPlace system at: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/ps5664/ps5669/products_implementation_design_guides_list.html

Determine the licenses that you need for your Cisco Unified MeetingPlace system.

Read the Planning Guide for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5 at: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/ps5664/ps5669/products_implementation_design_guides_list.html

Review system requirements.

Gather installation values.

See Gathering Installation Values in the Installing the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server Software module.

Install and configure the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Audio Server software on a Cisco MCS or a virtual machine on a UCS B-Series or C-Series Server. The same Audio Server will be used by all the internal and external web servers.

See the Installing the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Application Server Software module.

Determine if you will install SQL Server locally on each internal and external web server or on remote, standalone servers.

Note The internal and external web servers must use separate SQL Server instances.

The Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server software requires SQL Server. You can choose to install SQL Server on the internal and external web servers on which you are installing the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server software or on remote, standalone servers.

If you install SQL Server on the same server as which you are installing the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server software, the installation program installs Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express and Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 on your local system automatically; in this case, no pre-installation steps are required.

If you choose to install SQL Server on remote, standalone servers, install both SQL Server 2008 Express and Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 on each Windows server before installing the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server software.

Check System Requirements for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5 for the required service pack.

Installing the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server Software with SMA-2S

This section provides a roadmap of installation tasks. Do the following tasks in the order presented.

Before You Begin

Complete all of the tasks in the Preparing to Install the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server Software with SMA-2S.

Task

Configure network settings on the external web server.

See How to Install the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server Software.

Copy the GUIDS from the internal web server to the external web server, and run the file on the external web server to install registry entries.

See Copying GUIDS from One Web Server to Another Web Server.

Install the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server software on the external web server.

See Installing the Gateway SIM and the Web Server Software.

For Server Location, choose External (Limited Access).

Copying GUIDS from One Web Server to Another Web Server

The GUIDS entries for the site and the system must match between the internal and external web servers and also between all internal servers.

Note Make sure that you run the GUIDS.reg file on each external web server before installing the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Server software.

Note In Release 8.5.2 or later, the SQL Server instance name is MPWebSQL. If the SQL Server does not have the default name, then when installing the Web Server on the second server, you need to specify the SQL Server: <FQDN_of_internal_Web_Server\SQL_Server_instance_name>. If the internal Web Server has SQL Server with the default instance name, then you only need to specify <FQDN_of_internal_Web_Server>.

Before You Begin

1. As an administrator, open a DOS command window and navigate to C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\MPWeb on the first internal web server.

2. Run SAEnableStartSQLBrowser.bat on the CLI of that first internal web server.

Procedure

Step 1 Copy the drive:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\MPWebGUIDS.reg file from the first internal web server.

Step 2 Paste the GUIDS.reg file in the drive:\Temp directory of the first external web server.

Step 3 Double-click the GUIDS.reg file from the first internal web server, to install it.

Step 4 Select OK when prompted to add the information from the GUIDS.reg file to the registry.
