About the Jabber Integration Installer

You install the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Jabber Integration on a Jabber server by using either a command-line interface, such as a console, or by using the graphical user interface (GUI) in X-Windows. The same installer is used in both cases; the interface you use to launch the installer determines whether you receive the command-line interface or the GUI interface.

You must run the installer from the root account on the Jabber server. Your deployment must include a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing server running Release 5.4.

Before installing the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Jabber Integration, confirm that the Jabber server meets the requirements listed in the "Integration Requirements: Jabber Server" section of System Requirements for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 5.4 at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/ps5664/ps5669/prod_installation_guides_list.html.

Installing the Jabber Integration by Using the Command-Line Installer

To Install the Jabber Integration by Using the Command-Line Installer

Step 1 Log in to the Jabber server as root.

Step 2 The Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Jabber Integration CD contains a binary file called install_jabber_5_x_x_x.bin, where 5_x_x_x is the version number. Insert the CD into the CD or DVD-ROM drive on the Jabber server, or copy the file to the server from another location.

Step 3 At the command line, type the path to the binary install file, and press Enter.

Configuring the Jabber Integration

To configure the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Jabber Integration after installation, refer to the "Configuring and Troubleshooting the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Jabber Integration" appendix of the Configuration Guide for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Web Conferencing at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/ps5664/ps5669/products_installation_and_configuration_guides_list.html.

Upgrading or Reinstalling the Jabber Integration

Do the tasks in this section to upgrade or to reinstall the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Jabber Integration. Do them only if you have already completed configuration of the Jabber Integration. (See the preceding section, "Configuring the Jabber Integration.")

1. Stop the Cisco External Command Interface component. See the "To Stop the Cisco External Command Interface" procedure.

2. Run the installer by using either the "To Install the Jabber Integration by Using the Command-Line Installer" procedure or the "To Install the Jabber Integration by Using the X-Windows GUI Installer" procedure.

To Stop the Cisco External Command Interface

Step 1 Log on to the Jabber XCP Controller web interface. Refer to the Jabber documentation for information on how to access the interface.

Step 2 From the XCP Controller home page, in the Components section, locate the Cisco External Command Interface component.

Step 3 In the Actions column, click Stop.

Uninstalling the Jabber Integration

This section contains three procedures. Do them in the order listed to uninstall the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Jabber Integration.

Do the procedures only if you have already completed configuration of the Jabber Integration. (See the "Configuring the Jabber Integration" section.)
