Find out what's new in the latest release.

Phone Mode

You can deploy the client in phone mode so that the primary authentication for users is to Cisco Unified Communications Manager. In phone mode deployments, you provision users with audio and video capabilities as base functionality without instant messaging and presence capabilities.

Attention:

Phone mode is currently a beta feature and is included as part of the Cisco Early Adopter Program to gather your feedback.

To use phone mode, you must join the Early Adopter Program and accept the Early Adopter Program Participation Agreement.

Secure Phone (SRTP)

This version of Cisco Jabber for Windows includes support for secure communications for CSF devices using client authentication and secure RTP-based media path encryption.

You configure secure phone capabilities on Cisco Unified Communications Manager. See the Server Setup Guide for details.

Related Information

Accessory Manager API

This release provides an API for accessory vendors. You can use this API to enable call management functionality for devices such as headsets. For example, you can use this API to answer, hold, and end audio calls on Cisco Jabber for Windows from a headset.

You must enable the accessory manager API with the EnableAccessoriesManager parameter as follows:
<Policies>
  <EnableAccessoriesManager>true</EnableAccessoriesManager>
</Policies>
Important:

The accessory manager API requires device plugins from accessory vendors.

Cisco Unity Connection REST Interface

As of this release, Cisco Jabber for Windows connects to the voicemail service through a REST interface and supports Cisco Unity Connection version 8.5 or later.

Important notes:
  • You can no longer use IMAP to connect to the voicemail service. IMAP is deprecated as of this release.
  • The client uses TLS as the transport protocol for the voicemail service. You cannot use a nonsecure transport protocol.

This release of Cisco Jabber for Windows includes a user interface option that displays a small window at the top of the screen and allows users to quickly access common functions.

See the Advanced Features Guide for information on using the docked window.
