Introduction

Cisco Mobile provides Nokia Symbian S60 3rd edition phone users with access to their work number, instant messaging, work voicemail, and corporate directory while users are connected to the corporate network over either Wi-Fi or VPN.

Cisco Mobile client software works in conjunction with Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Unity or Cisco Unity Connection, and Cisco Unified Presence or Cisco WebEx Connect Service to extend Cisco enterprise communications applications and services to Nokia Symbian S60 3rd edition phones.

These release notes describe new features, requirements, restrictions, and caveats for Cisco Mobile for Nokia Release 8.x. These release notes are updated for every maintenance release but not for patches or hot fixes. Before you install Cisco Mobile for Nokia, we recommend that you review this document for information about issues that may affect your system.

System Requirements

Network Requirements

The Nokia Symbian S60 3rd edition phone must be able to connect to the corporate network using Wi-Fi or VPN.

If users will connect to the network while off corporate premises, the Nokia phone must be able to connect to the corporate network using a solid, high-bandwidth VPN connection.

To use VPN, users must download Nokia Mobile VPN client.

Mid-call features require 3G mobile network coverage.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Requirements

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 8.0(3a)SU2 or 8.5(1)SU2.

Voicemail Requirements

Cisco Unity Release 7.0(2) or 8.0(3), or Cisco Unity Connection Release 7.1(1)

Requirements for Integration with Corporate Directory

Microsoft Active Directory 2003 or 2008, or other LDAP servers

We recommend enabling Global cataloging.

Cisco Mobile provides better results if phone numbers in Active Directory are unformatted.

Requirements for Presence and Instant Messaging

Cisco Unified Presence Releases 8.0.4 to 8.5 or Cisco WebEx Connect Service

Nokia VPN Client

Supported with Nokia Mobile VPN client. For information, see related Nokia documentation.

Requirements for Users and Devices

Cisco Mobile for Nokia Release 8.x is designed to work on Symbian Series 60 3rd Edition FP1 and FP2 phones (for example, E72 and E75).

For Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Release 8.0(3a)SU2 and 8.5(1)SU2:
Cisco Mobile Release 8.x and Nokia Call Connect coreside on a single Nokia S60 phone device with full functionality.

The Cisco Mobile for Nokia application is available at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps11596/index.html.

The phone must be able to access the corporate network using Wi-Fi or VPN.

For desk phone integration support, see the Cisco Unified Communications Manager requirements, above.

Installation Notes

Installation and setup instructions are available for system administrators and end users in the following guides:

System Administrators—See the Administration Guide for Cisco Mobile for Nokia for your release at http://cisco.com/en/US/products/ps7271/prod_installation_guides_list.html

Users—See the Cisco Mobile Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for each release at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/ps7271/products_user_guide_list.html.

Note that users obtain the software for this product from http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps11596/index.html.

Limitations and Restrictions

Cisco Mobile requires a supported release of Cisco Unified Communications Manager to provide Dial via Office calling, Voice Message Waiting Indicator, and Call-in number features.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 8.0(3a)SU2 supports Dial via Office - Reverse only. (Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 8.5(1)SU2 supports both Dial via Office - Reverse and Dial via Office - Forward.)

When system administrators enter the mobile phone number as the Destination Number in the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration portal, the phone number can include no more than 15 digits. If this number cannot be routed to an outbound gateway with 15 digits or less, administrators must set up application dial rules to prefix necessary digits to make the number routable.

Older phone models do not support the loudspeaker function in the in-call view of Cisco Mobile. To use the loudspeaker function, users must navigate to the native phone application.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 8.0(3a)SU2 does not support changes to Mobile Connect from the Cisco Mobile client. No warning is shown to the user. Users can use the Cisco Unified CM User Options page to make changes. Note: Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 8.5(1)SU2 supports changes to Mobile Connect from the Cisco Mobile client.

Cisco Mobile supports both basic and enhanced Message Waiting Indicators. Not all voicemail servers support enhanced Message Waiting Indicators.

We recommend using "wbxconnect" as the XMPP Resource for Cisco WebEx Connect to prevent simultaneous sign-in.

Cisco Mobile is a generic XMPP client and may not have support for all the Cisco settings and preferences.

Cisco Mobile auto-accepts all contact subscription requests.

Settings on other Cisco IM clients do not apply to Cisco Mobile (for example, black lists).
