Modifying Your Conversation Pane Options

Configuring the Conversation Pane to Sign In Automatically

If you check Remember my details when you sign in to the conversation pane, you can configure the conversation pane to sign you in automatically when Microsoft Office Communicator starts.

Procedure
Step 1   Select Shows the Modify Options button. in the conversation pane.
Step 2   Check Automatically sign me in to the conversation pane when I sign in to Microsoft Office Communicator.
Step 3   Select OK.

Modifying Warnings for the Active Conversations Window

When you close the active conversations window, you end the active call. The conversation pane can display a warning when you close the active conversations window. You can select whether or not to display this warning.

If there are any calls that are on hold, these calls are not ended.

Procedure
Step 1   Select Shows the Modify Options button. in the conversation pane.
Step 2   Check Warn me before closing the active conversations window.
Step 3   Select OK.

Configuring Call Forwarding

You can configure the conversation pane to forward your calls to one of the following:


  • Your voice message service.

  • Another one of your phone numbers in the corporate directory.

  • Another contact in the corporate directory.

  • A phone number that you specify.

Procedure
Step 1   Select Shows the Modify Options button. in the conversation pane.
Step 2   Check Forward my calls to.
Step 3   Select one of the following phones to forward your calls to:
Option Description

My voicemail

Forwards your calls to your voice message service.

Another of my phone numbers

Forwards your calls to another one of your phone numbers that are stored in the corporate directory.

Select the phone number from the list box.

Another contact or number

Forwards your calls to another contact, or to a phone number that you specify.

Select Add, then use the Select Contacts dialog box to search for the contact. Select the contact, then select Forward. If the contact has more than one number in the corporate directory, you can select the number to which you want to forward your calls.

Alternatively, use the keypad to specify a number.

If you have previously specified another contact or number to forward your calls to, that contact is displayed instead of the Another contact or number label.

Step 4   Select OK.

Modifying Storage Location of Conversation History

Your conversation history is saved on the computer on which you sign in to the conversation pane. You can also set an option to save your conversation history in Microsoft Outlook. If you select this option, your conversation history is saved to the Conversation History folder. If you do not have Microsoft Outlook open, your conversation history is saved to your Inbox.
Procedure
Step 1   Select Shows the Modify Options button. in the conversation pane.
Step 2   Check Save conversation history to Outlook.
Step 3   Select OK.

Configuring Logging Level

If you experience problems with the conversation pane, you might need to increase your logging level so that more detailed information is recorded.

Procedure
Step 1   Select Shows the Modify Options button. in the conversation pane.
Step 2   Select the logging level you require from the Logging level list box.
Step 3   Select OK.
