Cisco ATA 187 Analog Telephone Adaptor Release Notes for Firmware Release 9.2(3) (SIP)

Use these release notes with a Cisco ATA 187 Analog Telephone Adaptor running Firmware Release 9.2(3) (SIP). This version of Firmware Release 9.2(3) is compatible with Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.1(5) and later.

Introduction

The Cisco ATA 187 Analog Telephone Adaptor (ATA 187) is a low-density analog telephone that connects analog devices such as faxes, modems, and analog phones to an IP network. The ATA 187 supports two voice ports, each with its own independent telephone number. It has one RJ-45 port that provides access to an Ethernet network.

New and Changed Information

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express 9.0

The 9.2(3) Firmware Release is compatible with Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express (Unified CME) 9.0.

Private Line Automatic Ringdown

The 9.2(3) Firmware Release provides support for the One Touch Private Line Automatic Ringdown (PLAR) feature. This feature makes it easier for users to dial preconfigured phone numbers.

Plus Dialing

The 9.2(3) Firmware Release introduces support for the E.164 dial plan, with the “*” key used in place of the “+” key.

NTP Client

The 9.2(3) Firmware Release now offers support for the Network Time Protocol (NTP) client, used by the ATA 187 to synchronize with the NTP servers and to calibrate your system clock.

NSE Fax Pass-Through

With the 9.2(3) Firmware Release, Cisco ATA 187 now supports Name Signaling Event (NSE) for the modem pass-through mode.

Secure Shell Support

With the 9.2(3) Firmware Release, Cisco ATA 187 now supports Secure Shell (SSH) access for secure remote login. With this feature, you can now remotely access the Cisco ATA 187 and resolve any issues affecting the device performance.

Installing Cisco Unified Communications Manager

Before using the Cisco ATA 187 with Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8.6 and later, you must install the latest firmware on all Cisco Unified Communications Manager servers in the cluster.


Note You must install the QED file on Cisco Unified Communications Manager before installing the phone firmware. See the readme file in Step 7 for QED installation instructions.


To download and install the Cisco Unified Communications Manager version, follow these steps:

Step 1 Go to the following URL:

Step 2 Log in to the Tools and Resources Download Software page.

Step 3 Click + and choose the IP Telephony folder.

Step 4 Choose Call Control > Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CallManager) .

Step 5 Choose your Cisco Unified Communications Manager version.


 

Installing Firmware Release 9.2(3)

To download and install the phone firmware, follow these steps:

Step 1 Go to the following URL:

Step 2 Log in to the Tools and Resources Download Software page.

Step 3 Click + and choose the IP Telephony folder.

Step 4 Choose IP Phones > Cisco ATA 180 Series Analog Telephone Adaptors > Cisco ATA 187 Analog Telephone Adaptor .

Step 5 Choose 9.2(3) in the Latest Releases folder.

Step 6 To download the SIP firmware for the ATA 187, click the Download Now or Add to cart button and follow the prompts:

Note If you added the firmware file to the cart, click the Download Cart link when you are ready to download the file.


Step 7 Click the + next to the firmware filename in the Download Cart section to access additional information about this file. The hyperlink for the readme file is in the Additional Information section, which contains installation instructions for the corresponding firmware:

Step 8 Follow the instructions in the readme file to install the firmware.

The ATA 187 supports the following modem standards:

ATA 187 does not support NSE-based modem pass through.
