Provisioning an ISDN connection

It is recommended that your ISDN connection has the following characteristics:

  • PRI: The size of the DID range that you specify for your PRI depends only on the number of different endpoints or destinations on your local network. For example, if you have 100 endpoints on your network, you would get one DID number for each one, and would need to set up dial plan rules on your IDSN Gateway to map DID numbers to endpoints
  • US: NI-2; DMS-100 (only applicable to ISDN GW 3241 and MSE 8321); 4ESS (only applicable to ISDN GW 3241 and MSE 8321). Europe: ETSI
  • B8ZS encoding
  • Extended super frame
  • CSU is recommended in the US (we have tested with the Adtran CSU products)
  • We derive the clock from the ISDN provider
  • 64k ISDN line or 56k (restricted - from software version 1.5 we now support 56k restricted/bit robbing).
  • Support for data, video and voice
