Deciding Which Software Files to Use

The upgrade procedures in the Release Notes for the Catalyst 3750, 3560, 2975, 2960-S, and 2960 Switches, Cisco IOS Release 12.2(55)SE and the Release Notes for Catalyst 3750-X, 3750-E, 3560-X, and 3560-E Switches, Cisco IOS Release 12.2(55)SE describe how to perform the upgrade by using a combined tar file. This file contains both the Cisco IOS image file and the files needed for CMS. You must use the combined tar file to upgrade the switch through CMS. To upgrade the switch through the command-line interface (CLI), use the tar file and the archive download-sw privileged EXEC command.
