Important Notes
All modifications and features added to the firmware prior to Version 3.76 are documented in Release Notes for Catalyst 2800 and Catalyst 2100 Firmware Version 3.71.
Version 3.76 Modifications
The following modifications are included in Version 3.76:
•To avoid connectivity problems, the switch automatically suspends a port when a loopback twisted-pair cable is connected to it.
•To enhance Telnet connectivity, the firmware has been improved to reduce the chance of Telnet connections failing.
•The switch ages out Telnet connections when the workstation side of the connection is not closed properly.
•Broadcast packets are forwarded to eligible ports and to the switch management software for processing. Packets forwarded for processing encounter a threshold that is designed to prevent the management queue from overflowing. This threshold has been increased from 50 to 300 packets per second.
•The default IP time-to-live value has been increased from 15 to 255.
•Large switch-management IP packets are now properly fragmented when transmitted from the FDDI module.
•The FDDI module uses the IP address of the switch to discover the maximum transmission unit (MTU) path.
•The switch now supports two types of Content-Addressable Memory devices: Music Semiconductor MU9C1480 and MU9C2480.
