Accessibility Features in Cisco NAC Agent - Keyboard Navigation

This document contains information about the keyboard shortcuts that are used to navigate through Cisco NAC Agent (starting with versions 4.7.3.2, 4.8.0.35, and 4.9.0.33) dialogs.


Note Install JAWS Screen Reader to enable the Accessibility features.


The following keyboard shortcuts were tested on a Windows XP system with Freedom Scientific JAWS Screen Reader, Version 11 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.

Accessibility Mode

The Accessibility mode should be enabled in the NAC Agent configuration file. For more details on the configuration settings, refer to the "Cisco NAC Agent XML Configuration File Settings" section in the Cisco NAC Appliance - Clean Access Manager Configuration Guide, corresponding to your Cisco NAC Appliance release version.

0 or 1

If this setting is 0, the Cisco NAC Agent does not interact with the JAWS Screen Reader.

If this setting is 1, the Cisco NAC Agent is compatible with the JAWS Screen Reader.



Note There may be a slight impact on performance when this feature is enabled. The Agent functions normally if this feature is enabled on a client machine that does not have the JAWS Screen Reader installed.


General Controls

The following are general suggestions to navigate through the NAC Agent dialogs:

When a new NAC dialog is displayed, use INSERT+ESC to refresh the JAWS buffer.

Use INSERT+DOWN ARROW to read the content of the dialog or use DOWN ARROW to read item by item.

To read the system message on top of each dialog, use INSERT+ESC, then CTRL+HOME, and then DOWN ARROW key to read from the top.

Login Dialog

To login to NAC Agent:

TAB to the "User Name" and "Password" form fields to enter information.

TAB to the "Remember Me" checkbox and use SPACE BAR to enable or disable it.

TAB to the "Server" drop-down list and use the UP or DOWN ARROW keys to select the options.

TAB to the "Log In" button and press ENTER to login.

To make changes to the fields, do the following:

TAB to the "Reset" button and press ENTER.

Use SHIFT+TAB to navigate back to the previous fields and enter new information.

Main Dialog

There are three buttons available in the main dialog: "Repair", "Show Details", and "Continue". Each button opens a new dialog as follows:

Download Software

To open the "Download Software" screen,

TAB to the "Repair" button of the main dialog and press ENTER.

TAB to the "Download" button and press ENTER to download software (a "Save As" dialog opens) or TAB to the "Skip" button and press ENTER to cancel.

Security Compliance Summary

To open the "Security Compliance Summary" dialog,

TAB to the "Show Details" button of the main dialog and press ENTER.

There is a table available in this screen:

Press the T key to navigate to this table.

Hold down CTRL+ALT, and then use UP, DOWN, LEFT, or RIGHT ARROW keys to navigate through the data cells.

To go back to the main dialog, TAB to the "Hide Details" button and press ENTER.

Network Usage Policy

To open the "Network Usage Policy" dialog,

TAB to the "Continue" button of the main dialog and press ENTER.

TAB to the "Network Usage Policy" link and press ENTER to read the document. The document is opened in a new browser.

TAB to the "Accept" button and press ENTER to accept it.

TAB to the "Reject" button and press ENTER to cancel.

NAC Properties

To open the NAC Properties dialog, navigate to the System Tray of the Window Task Bar.

Use the LEFT or RIGHT Arrow keys to navigate to the "Cisco NAC Agent" Icon, and then press ENTER.

There is a table available in this screen:

Press the T key to navigate to the table.

Hold down CTRL+ALT, and then use UP, DOWN, LEFT, or RIGHT ARROW keys to navigate through the data cells.

To change the "Discovery Host":

TAB to the "Discovery Host" field and type in the IP Address.

TAB to the "Apply" button and press ENTER.

To close the NAC Properties dialog:

TAB to the "Hide Properties" button and press ENTER.
