Supported Devices Table for Resource Manager Essentials 3.5

Revised: June 28, 2007

The following table lists Cisco devices supported by Resource Manager Essentials 3.5 (RME 3.5) with Incremental Device Update 13.0 (IDU 13.0):

Table 1, Devices Supported in IDU 13.0 on RME 3.5

IDU 13.0 contains updated files necessary for RME 3.5 to support the Cisco devices listed in Table 1. If you are a registered user, you can download IDU for RME 3.5.

An IDU is a software package that enables an application to support new devices. IDU might also contain bug fixes. Incremental Device Update 13.0 requires one file, RME35.IDU.v13-0.sol.zip (for Solaris) or RME35.IDU.v13-0.win.exe (for Windows), to be downloaded and installed. To access it, log into Cisco.com and download it from:
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cw2000-rme

For detailed Software Management function and supported device table, see: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/cw2000/cw2000e/e_3_x/3_5/index.htm

4 Software Management does not support NM-NAM (Network Module-Network Analysis Module) card for Cisco 2600 and 3600 routers when it is connected to the network through the external management interface. So if you want to upgrade NM-NAM image to a higher version you must configure the internal interface as a management port.

1 You can archive the configuration, only through telnet. You cannot archive the configuration through SNMP or TFTP.

2 Software Management: Image library import from device, baseline, and synchronize not supported.

3 A new view-Content Engine Series view is added under System View. Content Distribution Manager devices are also listed under this view.

4 Syslog will not trigger Configuration change event for Content Engine/Content Distribution Manager devices.

5 Add images from device, network baselining and synchronization reports features are not available for Content Engine devices.

6 Support for distribution of software on to Content Engines, running in ECDN mode is not available. If you select such devices, they will be left out during distribution.

7 SSH support for Configuration Management is not available since RME supports a lower version of SSH than the SSH supported in the MDS switch.

8 Netconfig not supported.

9 The non-descriptive upgrade feature in Software Management is not available in the device and hence not supported.

10 To recommend a Boot image based on the SAN image and vice versa, RME requires the compatibility matrix of Boot and SAN images. Alternatively it requires a mechanism to select a Boot image based on the SAN image or vice versa on the RME server. This is not available and hence Software Management will not recommend any image.

11 The standby supervisor in Software Management is not supported because of insufficient MIB implementation.

12 The Current Running Image name is not available in the MIB and hence the following features are not supported:
- Details of image name in Work Order Report will not appear
- Add image from Network
- Synchronization Report

13 Software Management distribution through RCP is not supported in MIB

14 See Bug ID CSCin37076 in Known Problems section of the Readme for Incremental Device Update (IDU) 4.0 on Resource Manager Essentials 3.5.

15 Limited models belonging to the Catalyst 3750 Series Switches family have full support and all models have partial support.

16 See Bug ID CSCdy63410 for minimum IOS software version required for Software Management (Readme for Incremental Device Update (IDU) 4.0 on Resource Manager Essentials 3.5).

1 Software Management: Image library import from device, network baselining, and synchronization features are not supported.

2 Syslog Analyzer: Syslog will not trigger Configuration change event for Content Engine and Content Distribution Manager devices.

3 Syslog Analyzer: Syslog Message Reference will not be available for Content Engine devices in any syslog reports.

4 Software Management: Add images from device, network baselining, and synchronization reports features are not available for Content Engine devices.

5 Software Management: Support for distribution of software onto Content Engines, running in ECDN mode, is not available.

6 Software Management: While importing images from an Aironet device into the software library, you have to select the Aironet Series image type manually. This is because, by default, Software Management sets the image type to Unknown.

7 Software Management: Upgrade Analysis feature is not supported.

8 Software Management: Undo feature is not supported for NAM devices.
To upgrade NAM devices using SWIM, ensure that the:
-Passwords for NAM application mode and maintenance mode are the same.
-Auto logout on the Catalyst 6000 device in which this NAM card is present, is set to a value which is high enough to copy the new image.
-NMSROOT/htdocs has enough space to stage the NAM image.
For more details, see User Guide for Resource Manager Essentials 3.5 (Troubleshooting RME section) on Cisco.com:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/cscowork/ps2073/products_user_guide_list.html

9 Software Management: Minimum IOS software version required is 12.2(13.02)S.

10 RME3.5 does not support devices CSS11501, CSS11503, and CSS11506 running CSS software version 7.40 or later.

11 Configuration Management: CSS11000 series has an archive on the device that stores a copy of the startup and running configuration. When RME contacts the device using TFTP, the configurations from the archive get copied into the RME database. When using Telnet, configurations from NVRAM/RAM get copied into the RME database. You have to ensure that the configurations in the archive and NVRAM/RAM are synchronized.
