Licensing Notes for CiscoWorks Network Connectivity Monitor


CiscoWorks Network Connectivity Monitor (NCM) must be licensed before you can use it. You can install NCM without a license. However, if you do so, you will not be able to start NCM.

To obtain a software license for your CiscoWorks Network Connectivity Monitor software, you must open a Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) case (Priority 3) at:

Provide the following information:

Claim Certificate Number (located on the Software License Claim Certificate, shipped as hardcopy with your NCM software)

NCM Version Number

NCM Server Operating System (Windows or Solaris)

NCM Server Host ID

You will receive your activation key and installation instructions via e-mail within one business day from the time you submit your TAC case. Retain this document with your NCM software records.

Installing the License

After you obtain the license file, do one of the following:

If you have installed NCM and are installing a permanent license, see the User Guide for CiscoWorks Network Connectivity Monitor for more information on installing a permanent license.

If you have not yet installed NCM, see the Installation Guide for CiscoWorks Network Connectivity Monitor for information on installing NCM.

Special Note About Device Support

NCM ships with a license for 100 devices enabled. If you require license support for additional devices, you must purchase additional device packs from Cisco Systems, Inc. If you need to scale your deployment beyond a single instance of NCM, or if you need a distributed deployment of NCM, you must purchase additional NCM consoles from Cisco. Additional device packs and consoles can be ordered through your sales representative.
