ASR9K_LICENSE Messages

Error Message %LICENSE-ASR9K_LICENSE-2-ADV_IP_NEEDED

[dec] VRF(s) are configured without a valid license / license configuration for [chars] in violation of the Software Right To Use Agreement. This feature may be disabled by the system without the appropriate license. Contact Cisco to purchase the license immediately to avoid potential service interruption.

Explanation The VRF feature is configured without the necessary Adv-IP license.

Recommended Action The customer should either purchase the license or disable the feature.

The system is unable to authenticate the line card rate mode in node: [chars]

Explanation The system has aborted the rate mode verification due to an operation error. WARNING!!! The module in node [chars] in this router may not be a genuine Cisco product. Cisco warranties and support programs only apply to genuine Cisco products. If Cisco determines that your insertion of non-Cisco memory, WIC cards, AIM cards, Network Modules, SPA cards, GBICs or other modules into a Cisco product is the cause of a support issue, Cisco may deny support under your warranty or under a Cisco support program such as SmartNet.

Explanation This line card has failed to pass the board authentication. The warning message is generated frequently but the operation of the linecard is not disabled in any way.

Explanation The Linecard Licensing Manager was not able to acquire a throughput license. Traffic flow through this router may be impacted since the a line card is not operating at the expected throughput rate.

Recommended Action Check throughput license availability using the ’show license pools’ command in admin mode. Dump the contents of the Line Card Licensing Manager trace buffer using the ’show lclm trace location loc’ command to determine which operation has generated this warning.

Error Message %LICENSE-LCLICMGR-5-RATE_CHANGE

The throughput rate for node [chars] has [chars] to [chars]

Explanation The throughput rate of the specified node has changed. Traffic flow through this router will be impacted since the line card is now operating at a new throughput rate.

Recommended Action This is an informational message and no action is required unless this is an unexpected event. Use the ’show lclm trace location loc’ command to see what triggered the change in throughput rate.

Could not determine device to use for license database. Reverting to temporary storage. License data will not persist across reloads.

Explanation The disk utilities library did not return a device name to license manager where the persistent license data files can be stored. License information will be stored in a temporary location, and will be lost if the router reloads. Implicit licenses will be available. Permanent or evaluation licenses should not be installed in this state, as they will be lost if the router reloads and will need to be regenerated before they can be installed again.

License database and this chassis do not match. If licenses were installed, restore from a backup or contact Cisco TAC.

If the chassis and license database do not match, the license database will be cleared and implicit evaluation licenses will be available for 90 days. This alarm may occur if the route processor card has been moved from one chassis to another.

Recommended Action If a backup of the license database is available it can be restored with the ’license restore’ command. Otherwise contact Cisco TAC to obtain a new set of licenses for this system.

Error Message %LICENSE-LICMGR-3-DB_CORRUPT

License database has been corrupted and will be cleared

Explanation This message occurs when the license manager detects corruption in the license database that cannot be repaired. The license database will be cleared and implicit evaluation licenses will be available for 90 days.

Recommended Action If a backup of the license database is available it can be restored with the ’license restore’ command.

Licenses for feature [chars] with serial number [chars] will expire in [chars]

Explanation Licenses for the specified feature which were installed using the given chassis serial number will be removed in the time indicated unless the chassis is reconnected from the system. This message appears even if the removed licenses are not active.

Recommended Action Confirm that sufficient licenses remain on the system signed with the chassis serial number of available chassis. If necessary, obtain new licenses for the feature and install them with the ’license add’ command. If there are sufficient licenses remaining signed with available chassis serial numbers, the message can be stopped by using the ’license remove’ command to remove the licenses associated with the specified chassis.

Error Message %LICENSE-LICMGR-4-LICENSE_WILL_EXPIRE
