New and Changed Information
About
In the previous release, the assignment of members to a new broadcast domain could only be accomplished one broadcast domain at a time. Starting in Release 1.2(1), the Cisco Nexus Fabric Manager enables the creation of one or more broadcast domains while simultaneously adding members. This feature is accessed from three locations of the Home window: The INTERFACES tab, the BROADCAST DOMAINS tab, or the NEIGHBORS tab. This document explains how to use this new feature from each location.
Creating Broadcast Domains While Adding Members
This section explains how to create a broadcast domain while also adding members. This procedure can be followed from these three tabs in the Cisco Nexus Fabric Manager Home window:
INTERFACES—Use this tab to choose from all of your interfaces and add them to the new broadcast domain.
NEIGHBORS—Use this tab to access the perimeter interfaces connected to a foreign device and add them to the new broadcast domain.
Note
Foreign device interfaces (identified by the initials FDI) cannot be added to broadcast domains. Only border and host-facing interfaces (perimeter interfaces) can be added.
BROADCAST DOMAINS—Use this tab to choose from the interfaces of an existing broadcast domain and add them to the new broadcast domain.
Before You BeginProcedure
At least one perimeter interface has been discovered.
At least one perimeter interface is connected to a foreign device (when assigning the interfaces of a foreign device to the new broadcast domain).
At least one interface is assigned to a broadcast domain (when assigning the members of a broadcast domain to the new broadcast domain).
What to Do Next
To add or remove members of a broadcast domain, see the Editing Members of a Broadcast Domain section of the Cisco Nexus Fabric Manager Configuration Guide.
