Introduction

This document describes the error messages that might appear when you use the Gather Unity System Information tool in Unity and also describes solutions to those errors. When the tool is used, you might encounter these messages:

TCPChimney: Enabled - Warning may cause MAPI delay issues
RSS: Enabled - Warning may cause MAPI delay issues

Prerequisites

Requirement

Cisco recommends that you download the latest version of Gather Unity System Information from CiscoUnityTools.com.

Components Used

The information in this document is based on Cisco Unity.

The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

Problem

When you use the Gather Unity System Information tool in Unity, Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) delay issue error messages appear.

Solution

Disable the TCP Chimney and Really Simple Syndication (RSS) on the Unity server.

Note: Backup the registry before you make changes to the registry. Incorrect modifications to the registry might require a server rebuild. As always, perform a full Disaster Incident Response Team (DIRT) and/or Cisco Unified Backup and Restore Application Suite (COBRAS) backup of the server before you make any modifications to the server.

  1. Open the CLI window.
  2. Enter the command.
  3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters.
  4. Locate EnableTCPChimney and enter "0" for the value. Click OK in order to save the value.
  5. In the same path, locate EnableRSS and enter "0" for the value. Click OK in order to save the value.
  6. Exit the registry.
  7. Reboot the Unity server.

Verify

In order to verifiy the modifications, use the Gather Unity System Information tool again and ensure that these messages appear:

TCPChimney: Disabled
RSS: Disabled
