Adding Languages to the Cisco Unity System

  • In this document's example, the German language will be added. First, you need to download the Language software (for example, German language). You can either use CD9 which includes the German language, or download it from Download Software (registered customers only) . For example, if you want the Spanish language use Unity 4.0.5 CD15 image ESO (CiscoUnity4.0.5CD15.exe).

  • Along with the Langauge software, you also need CD1 on any Unity version.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Once you have these things ready, complete the steps below in order to accomplish the task:

  1. Copy the file you just downloaded to the Unity server and unzip it.

  2. Once you have CiscoUnity4.2.1CD9.exe uncompressed, log on to Windows by using the Cisco Unity installation account.

  3. On Cisco Unity DVD 1 or CD 1, or from the location to which you saved the downloaded Cisco Unity CD 1 image files, browse to the root directory and double-click Setup.exe.

  4. This opens the installation wizard and you will be asked to "Upgrade Cisco Unity". Click Next. Here, you will find a list of the Languages available. Choose German.

  5. If prompted, double-click the language of your choice to continue the installation.

  6. If Cisco Unity is not set up to use SSL, the Set Up the Cisco Personal Communications Assistant to Use SSL page appears. Click Do Not Set Up Cisco Personal Communications Assistant to Use SSL, then click Next.

  7. On the Summary screen, click Add or Change Cisco Unity Features.

  8. Click Next or Continue without changing values until the Select Features dialog box appears.

  9. In the Select Features dialog box:

    1. Check the Upgrade Cisco Unity check box.

    2. If the Cisco Unity license includes text to speech (TTS), check the Enable TTS check box. If not, uncheck the Enable TTS check box.

    3. Uncheck the Install Voice Card Software check box.

  10. Click Next or Continue without changing values until the Cisco Unity Languages dialog box appears.

  11. In the Cisco Unity Languages dialog box, choose the language(s) to install, and click Next.

Note: If you are using TTS and are using Australian English or New Zealand English as the phone language, also install U.S. English or UK English for the TTS language.

  12. Set the system-default languages for the phone, GUI, and TTS, and click Next.

  13. Click Next or Continue without changing values until you are prompted to restart the Cisco Unity server.

  14. Check the Yes, I Want to Restart My Computer Now check box, and click Finish.

  15. In the main window of the Cisco Unity Installation and Configuration Assistant, click Run the Cisco Unity Services Configuration Wizard.

Note: You should be logged on to Windows with the Cisco Unity installation account to run CUSCW.

  16. On the Welcome screen, click Next.

  17. Choose the message store type, and click Next.

  18. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the services configuration.

  19. In the main window of the assistant, click Run the Cisco Unity Message Store Configuration Wizard.

  20. Confirm that the message store server is running. If the message store server is not running, configuring the message store will fail.

  21. On the Welcome screen, click Next and follow the on-screen prompts.

  22. When the message store configuration is complete, click Finish.

  23. When the Summary screen appears, click Close.

  24. Unity services will be restarted.
