Introduction

The Cisco Unified Presence Server (CUPS), a critical component for delivering the full value of a Cisco Unified Communications environment, collects information about user availability. Using this information, applications such as Cisco Unified Personal Communicator (CUPC) and Cisco Unified Communications Manager can improve productivity by determining the most effective way for collaborative communication.

This document provides configuration for adding a voicemail profile to all users in the Cisco Unified Presence directory with the help of Cisco Unified Presence Bulk Administration Tool (BAT).

Prerequisites

Requirements

Make sure that you have knowledge of BAT in Cisco Unified Presence to configure multiple users in bulk.

Components Used

The information in this document is based on CUPC and CUPS.

The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

Cisco Unified Presence BAT

Cisco Unified Presence is a crucial component for delivering the full value of a Cisco Unified Communications environment. It collects information about a user's availability status, such as whether the user is using a communications device such as a phone at a particular time. It also collects information regarding a user's communications capabilities, such as whether web collaboration or video conferencing is active. Using information captured by Cisco Unified Presence, applications such as CUPC and Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly Cisco Unified CallManager) can improve productivity by helping users connect with colleagues more efficiently by determining the most effective means for collaborative communication.

Update User Records for CUPC and Desk Phone Control Client Applications

Since LDAP integration is used, you have the users in your active directory. Once CUCM is synchronized with LDAP, you need to assign presence capabilities to these users (CUPS and CUPC enabled). After you do this, these users are present in CUPS, and then you can go to BAT to update users and associate them with the necessary profiles.

To update a group of users in the Cisco Unified Presence directory, you must have a data file in comma-separated value (csv) format that contains the user names, controlled device names, and directory numbers. Perform the steps below for adding a voicemail profile to all users in the Cisco Unified Presence directory with the help of Cisco Unified Presence BAT.
