Jabber for Windows Browser Certificate Error

The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.


You create a custom tab in Cisco Jabber in order to include a web page, but a browser certificate error displays that cannot be bypassed. If you click on the error, there is no progress. If you choose Click here to close this webpage, the tab no longer works.

Jabber uses the native Internet Explorer (IE) engine, so it should use the same IE installed on your computer. You cannot resolve this issue through configuration of IE with the standard IE settings in Widows. The browser certificate error is created due to a limitation/feature of the IWebBrowser2 interface that Jabber uses in order to render the webpages internally.


Use IE in order to accept the certificate. Install the certificate under Trusted Root Certification Authorities. Once accepted, the custom tab and webpage work fine with Cisco Jabber.
