Cisco Unified Intelligent Contact Management Enterprise

Cable Requirements for Spectrum PIM Connectivity

Document ID: 23109

Updated: Oct 12, 2005

This document provides the pin outs for the Supervisor CRT cable and the Transaction Link X.25 cable used to connect the Rockwell Spectrum Automatic Call Distributor (ACD) to a Peripheral Gateway (PG) in Cisco Intelligent Contact Management (ICM). The X.25 cable is not needed if TCP/IP Transaction Links are used.

Cisco recommends that you have knowledge of these topics:

  • RS-232 communications

  • Spectrum ACD

  • Cisco ICM

  • PG

Components Used

The information in this document is based on these software and hardware versions:

  • Cisco ICM

  • PG to Spectrum ACD configurations

The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

Refer to Cisco Technical Tips Conventions for more information on document conventions.

Build a CRT Cable

A CRT cable is required in all Spectrum Peripheral Interface Manager (PIM) implementations. A CRT cable can be purchased from Black Box, P/N EVMBPC-0050.

See Figure 1 for the pin outs used to build this cable.

Build an X.25 Transaction Link Cable

This cable is only used in Spectrum PIM implementations that require the use of an X.25 Transaction Link, and it is not used in TCP/IP Transaction Link implementations. The original specification calls for a DB-25M to DB-25M cable and a Synchronous Null Modem Adapter, Belkin P/N A4A602-16298.

Note: This part is no longer built by Belkin and is only available on a custom basis through Belkin.

See Figure 2 for the pin outs used to build this cable.
