Introduction

This document describes what to do when a service appears as invalid and displays a red X beside it under the Control Center in the Cisco Customer Response Solutions (CRS) Administration. It contains a possible workaround.

Prerequisites

Requirements

Cisco recommends that you have knowledge of the Cisco Unified Contact Center Express, formerly known as the Cisco IP Contact Center (IPCC) Express.

Components Used

The information in this document is based on the Cisco Unified Contact Center Express version 4.0(4) and later.

The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.

Problem

One or more services display a red X beside them, as shown in Figure 1. These services are stopped and are unable to start. In this example, the Cisco Desktop Call/Chat Service is invalid and disabled.

Cause

A service becomes disabled in the event that it fails to start after four consecutive attempts.

Solution

In order to enable the Cisco Desktop Call/Chat Service, or any other service with similar issues, use the Cisco CRS Serviceability Utility, which is loaded on the IPCC Express server.

  1. On the IPCC Express server, choose Start > Programs > Cisco CRS Administrator > Cisco CRS Serviceability Utility.

  2. Choose the Process Activation tab, and then choose the process that is disabled, as shown in Figure 2. In this example, notice that the Status of the Cisco Desktop CallChat Service Process name is Disabled.

  3. Click the ENABLE button.

  4. A message dialog box displays, as shown in Figure 3. This is an informational message that indicates that you must take action and manually restart the CRS Node Manager service in order for the changes to take effect. Click OK.

  5. In order to restart the CRS Node Manager, which manages the services, use the Microsoft Windows Services utility. Choose Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.

  6. In order to restart the CRS Node Manager, right-click the service and click Start. The Status of the service displays as Started, as shown in Figure 4.

  7. Once the service restarts, verify that there is no longer a red X beside it under the Control Center in the Cisco Customer Response Solutions (CRS) Administration, as shown in Figure 5.
